💗 October’s Theme: THOUGHTFUL 💗

Being thoughtful means noticing others, showing kindness, and finding little ways to let someone know you care. Whether it’s helping a friend, offering encouragement, taking turns, or simply including someone, even the smallest acts of kindness can make a BIG difference.

This October, we’re reminding our dancers that being a great teammate and friend starts with thinking of others. ✨

Structure Before Steps: Helping Young Dancers Learn to Focus

Are young dancers having a harder time focusing?
A conversation with some of our Starbound Performers teachers this week lead me to creating this episode. We were talking about some of the challenges we're seeing with our younger dancers—especially ages 2–8. Staying focused. Waiting their turn. Following directions. Transitioning between activities.
Then Ms. Debbie said one word:
STRUCTURE.
And I haven't stopped thinking about it.
What if, before asking children to focus better, we asked ourselves:
Have we given them enough structure to succeed?

We're getting practical with ways teachers can create predictable classroom routines, clearly communicate expectations, give children appropriate choices, and build the consistency that eventually leads to independence.
