What a busy and productive week for Heritage FFA! We kicked off our year with our annual FFA officer retreat. Our officers planned out our Program of Activities, did team building exercises, and prepared for our contests and yearly events. This year your 2026-2027 Officer Team is:

President: Lexi Davis
Vice-President: Brett Brown
Secretary: Jesse Loveday
Treasurer: Kyle Klepper
Reporter: Lorelie Lucio
Sentinel: Brayden Brown
Chaplain: Anderson Lloyd

Finally, our advisor Jon Waters spent the week in Murfreesboro at the Tennessee Association of Agriculture Educators (TAAE) conference. Mr. Waters earned 3 days of professional development, and was recognized as a Silver Teacher of Teachers award recipient, as well as taught a class to other educators about how to operate a school farm.

Heritage FFA is prepared and ready for FFA members to come back this fall and we are excited for another amazing year!

What a way to spend the Fourth of July! 🇺🇸❤️🤍💙

In true 250 fashion, we kept the celebration going all day long. For 2 hours and 50 minutes, our students served nearly 600 free burgers to our community while sharing the story behind the beef on their plate.
Visitors had the opportunity to see two different breeds of beef cattle, learn about the different cuts of beef, ask questions, and connect with local agriculture in a hands-on way.

Then, at 2:50 PM we wrapped up our largest giveaway, over $700 of locally raised beef. From ground beef to steaks and more; all to help support our local beef producers.

After the giveaway, we continued to serve burgers to residents who came out to enjoy the America 250 celebration at the Great Smoky Mountain Heritage Center. Thank you to everyone who came out, enjoyed a burger, learned something new, and continues to support local agriculture.

We would also like to say a huge thank you to the Great Smoky Mountain Heritage Center for allowing us to promote beef in the best spot, and our Heritage FFA Alumni and Supporters for helping us grill! We can't wait to do it again!

We are incredibly honored to have our Beef Backer project featured in The Daily Times!

As part of America’s 250th Anniversary celebration, we’re putting a fun agricultural twist on Independence Day by celebrating the people who raise the beef that feeds our communities.

Join us at the Smoky Mountain Heritage Center tomorrow, Saturday, July 4, for FREE hamburgers from 12:00–2:50 PM, and stick around for our 2:50 PM local beef giveaway, where we’ll be giving away over $500 worth of locally raised beef!

A huge thank you to our local cattle producers for their generous donations and support. We’ve also attached a few beef facts and a list of the producers who made this event possible. We hope to see everyone there as we celebrate local agriculture and the American beef industry!
