Pretty rude of winter to assume we wanted to see it again so soon, eh?

Tomorrow’s round will begin shortly after morning arrival and extend into the afternoon hours, dropping an estimated 3 - 5” during that span. It’s also important to mention that the high for the day is a tropical 24 degrees, so don’t forget to bundle up before you head out the door for the morning commute. Stay tuned to π˜žπ˜Œπ˜ˆπ˜›π˜π˜Œπ˜™ π˜‰π˜  π˜šπ˜™π˜– for updates, or better yet, give the fine folks at US National Weather Service Kansas City Missouri a follow. They’re pretty good at the weather thing.

Congratulations to these champs! Coming off a double overtime win against Smithville then sending this one to penalty kicks just shows there’s absolutely NO quit with these guys!

We’re proud of you, fellas!

If you went to this year’s Downtown Trick-or-Treat event last night, you probably saw Ofc. Staples and I wandering around and handing out candy. As we worked through the event, we noticed something that we felt needed to be shared.

We decided to do a little trick-or-treating ourselves, because wrestling the dad tax away from our own kids has proved increasingly difficult over the years. We, too, like candy, so we decided to give it a go. Well, halfway through our trek across the square, Staples and I got hungry, as growing boys do. Knowing we had delicious snacks in-hand, we reached excitedly into our McDonald’s buckets for a Butterfinger or Snickers and found something FAR less appealing. Apparently the Maryville Fire Department was handing out applications along with their treats. I KNOW, RIGHT?! And here we thought something like this would NEVER happen in our beautiful little community. We felt it important to pass this information along to the public so you, too, can keep your loved ones protected.

Safety first, folks, CHECK THOSE CANDY BUCKETS!

Town is fixing to get BUSY this evening, so here are a few tips to keep in mind before you head out with the kiddos and brave the masses:

🦺 π—•π—˜ π—¦π—˜π—˜π—‘
Carry glow sticks or a flashlight so drivers can spot you easily as you work your way from house-to-house.

πŸš— 𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗬 𝗒𝗑 π—¦π—œπ——π—˜π—ͺπ—”π—Ÿπ—žπ—¦
Walk facing traffic if no sidewalks are available.

🎭 π—–π—›π—˜π—–π—ž π—§π—›π—’π—¦π—˜ π—–π—’π—¦π—§π—¨π— π—˜π—¦
Make sure masks don’t block vision and that costumes fit to prevent trips and falls.

🍬 π—œπ—‘π—¦π—£π—˜π—–π—§ π—§π—›π—˜ π—šπ—’π—’π——π—¦
Wait until an adult checks your candy before eating. Toss anything that’s unwrapped or suspicious.

πŸ‘« π—¦π—§π—œπ—–π—ž π—§π—’π—šπ—˜π—§π—›π—˜π—₯
Kids should always trick-or-treat with an adult or a group of friends.

🏠 π—©π—œπ—¦π—œπ—§ π—’π—‘π—Ÿπ—¬ π—ͺπ—˜π—Ÿπ—Ÿ-π—Ÿπ—œπ—§ π—›π—’π— π—˜π—¦
If the porch light is off β€” skip that house!

We know, that’s a loaded question on Halloween of all nights. However, if something seems off, report suspicious activity to the Maryville Police Department at: (660) 562-3209

Hey, folks! This goes without saying, but we’re expecting a HUGE crowd for this evening’s matchup with Savannah. With big crowds come the inevitable parking headaches, so here’s some basic information about the evening’s festivities…

🚘: We have several lots on campus that you can utilize, but some are a bit of a jaunt from the field. Please try to arrive early to secure parking, especially if mobility issues are a concern. We’ve attached a map for you to take a peek at to help out!

πŸš‘: PLEASE avoid blocking the ambulance entrance on the north side of the main parking lot. Our EMS buddies use the drive to access field level parking.

πŸ“š: It’s Teacher Appreciation Night! If you see an educator wearing one of their special yellow shirts, be sure to thank them for the tireless work they do to educate our future leaders!

πŸ”: Don’t forget, our first SRO Tailgate is this evening. We’ll be serving burgers, hot dogs, chips, and drinks as long as we have them - first come, first serve! We’ll be set up near the entrance to the FEMA gym, and ALL Maryville students are welcome to come grab a bite before the game. We’ll start serving at 5:30, so arrive early! Special thanks again to the Nodaway County Cattlemen Association for their generous donation!

πŸ…ΏοΈ: PLEASE keep the main drive clear this evening. When it gets packed, fender benders tend to shoot through the roof. We don’t want that for you (or for us for that matter)!

πŸ“’: Bring your voices, warm β€˜em up, because we need our crowd LOUD this evening!
