We're not much for braggadocio, but we're awfully proud of the fact that our admissions applications for the academic year beginning next fall are on track to be the largest in MC history!

“While we’re still early in the Fall 2023 admissions cycle, I’m excited that our admissions applications are at an all-time high, and trending around 30% ahead of previous years,” according to MC President Dr. Bryan F Coker. “We’re thankful that so many prospective students and families are seeing the incredible value of an MC education."

For literal centuries, we've provided so much more than just classrooms and academic lectures, and as we continue to grow in our commitment to the region and our appreciation for it, we've created a culture here like no other: small classes, experiential learning, a dedicated faculty and staff and a liberal arts approach to knowledge and life that produces some of the finest young minds to come out of an East Tennessee institution.

What's more, we instill in all who pass through here a love of service: to one another, and to the wider world for which we're preparing them. "Do good on the largest possible scale" isn't just a catchphrase: It's a way of life, and the good news is that there's always room for more Scots!

Interested in being a part of what's happening here? Check out our next Meet Maryville event, taking place a week from Saturday. We've got all the information here, and you can head over to our Maryville College Admissions page to keep up with all the opportunities for exploration and enrollment.

If you or a loved one are still exploring your higher ed options, don't sleep on Maryville College. We're doing amazing things, and we'd love for you to be a part of it.
After graduating from MC in 2015, José Lee-Perez kept feeding the fires of knowledge that grew from his time as a Scot. He went on to get his master’s at East Tennessee State University and joined the University of Tennessee, Knoxville in 2016, working in enrollment and financial aid before joining the Division of Student Success in 2019, where he currently serves as the organizational cultural manager. He was the keynote speaker at this afternoon's Villamaría Series program, the culmination of part of our Hispanic Heritage Month observance, in which he discussed “Access to Success: Latinos’ Journey Through Higher Education.”

We couldn’t be prouder of his success, but what made the luncheon in the Pearsons Proffitt Dining Room all the sweeter was the attendance of several Maryville College Alumni who have gone on to help others through Project GRAD Knoxville, developed in 2001 as a program that “has inspired hope and provided opportunities to help improve student achievement, graduation rates, college/career path readiness, postsecondary enrollment/completion, and address barriers along the way.”

From Maryville College Admissions counselor Alan Miramontes Flores who served as a college and career access coach prior to joining the Scots Admissions team to Alexa Maqueo-Toledo, who claimed her diploma last May and started with Project GRAD just this week … from current Project GRAD college and career coach and MC alumna Nancy Gonzalez to former Scot Anthony Gunn II … to have them come “home” to support another alum and brainstorm ways they can better assist LatinX students navigate the world of higher education … well, that kind of sounds like doing good on the largest possible scale, and we’re here for it.
Happy Halloween, one and all!

Over here at the school that Isaac built, the campus is awash in costumed freakery and revelry, from the Mario-themed participanta of Maryville College Admissions to the '80s jazzercise-inspired "Exercise Your Career Muscles" team of Maryville College Career Center! Fayerweather Hall was renamed "Scare-weather Hall" for the day, and it all culminated on the second floor of Anderson ... where the Maryville College Division of Humanities, having been renamed "BOO-manities" all month, gathered faculty, staff and students alike for photos, karaoke, pizza and good-natured Halloween fun amid the fabulous decor assembled by our own Wendy Specter!

However you choose to observe Halloween, we hope you have as much fun as we did. Be generous with your candy and your costume compliments, be astute in your observances of little ones on the road, and as always ... Go Scots, spooky and otherwise!

Last March, we told you what an honor it was to be named a Military Friendly School, one of a select few Gold status higher education institutions in Tennessee that go above and beyond for veteran students. Unveiled in the spring, the list was published in this month's edition of G.I. Jobs magazine ... along with a lovely surprise!

Our own Dave Daniels, director of the Maryville College Military Student Center and Maryville College Admissions transfer recruiting, has been recognized as a 2022 Veteran Champion of the Year in Higher Education. We can think of no one more deserving of the honor, because as our veteran population knows, Dave is there to answer the call for whatever their needs might be. They're blessed to have him, and so are we! Congratulations, Dave!
We sent up the Bat Signal, and almost 60 colleges, universities and schools of higher education answered the call last night at the Clayton Center for the Arts!

As the host of the annual Blount County College Fair and Financial Aid Night, we were honored to open our doors to those who share in our mission of providing an education to knowledge-hungry young people, and judging by the turnout — almost 400 guests! — there are some eager future college students in East Tennessee!

Helping them figure out the best choice for their futures, as well as ways in which to pay for those choices through funding, scholarships, grants and financial aid, was the goal of last night's event, and while we certainly hope they choose to become Scots — hey, we didn't roll out the red carpet and post up all nine academic divisions for nothing! — we want them to succeed in whatever career they choose and wherever they decide to pursue it.

Thanks to the Maryville College Admissions team for making it happen, and to all of our guest institutions ... too many to tag! ... thanks for helping to make it so successful!
From titans of the SEC (University of Tennessee, Knoxville, University of South Carolina, Mississippi State University, Vanderbilt University and more) to regional mainstays like Pellissippi State, Douglas J Aveda Institute, Roane State and the Tennessee School of Beauty to four-year institutions that are among our closest liberal arts allies (Warren Wilson College, Emory & Henry College) to religiously affiliated schools like Lee University, King University and Milligan College ... they're coming.

On Sept. 28 at the Clayton Center for the Arts on the Maryville College campus, nearly 50 colleges, universities, technical schools and art schools are expected to attend the annual Blount County College Fair and Financial Aid Night, a service we're honored to host as a way of helping area high school students determine which path of higher education is right for them. It's absolutely free to attend and is an excellent opportunity to explore regional and even national options, all in one place.

Of course, we'll be well-represented, with Maryville College Admissions on hand to assist families and students in learning what they need to do to apply for all types of financial aid. In addition, each of our nine academic divisions will be represented, so you can get the full picture of what it might mean to become a Maryville College Scot!

We're excited to welcome our partners and humbled to serve as a potential choice for future college students, and we urge you to help us spread the word: This will be a night of service, knowledge and exploration, and if you know of any young people weighing decisions about their futures, this event is a can't miss.
They came … they saw … they left impressed, we hope, by the cornucopia of possibilities that await all those who choose to don the orange and garnet!

Meet Maryville is a regular Saturday soiree organized by the Maryville College Admissions staff, during which prospective undergrads and their families can get an up-close-and-personal look at exactly what being a Maryville Scot truly means.

It means studying everything — whether that be the water quality results of a stream in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, the history of Impressionism in the galleries of the Clayton Center for the Arts, world events through a contemporary geopolitical context in a Humanities course or deep diving into financial data in an economics class, we’ve got all of that and more for hungry minds.

It also means preparing for anything: With a liberal arts approach to all those subjects, students learn to think critically, ask questions, consider grander concepts and draw from a vast array of knowledge that sets them up for success, no matter the challenge or future career path.

At MC, the everyday and the unexpected are met with enthusiasm by our Scots, and on Saturday, those who would wear such a mantle got to see why. We welcome the opportunity to show off who we are, what we do and how we live to all potential undergrads and their families — the next Meet Maryville takes place Nov. 17, but the Admissions team provides campus tours throughout the week.

Come see what the buzz is about! We’re confident that once you come visit, you’ll see yourself as a Scot for life, and we couldn’t be more excited about that possibility.
At MC, we recognize that deciding on an institution of higher education isn't an impulse purchase.

Like all major decisions in life, potential students and their families want to get to know a college before investing in what amounts to a young person's future. Our Maryville College Admissions team knows this, which is why team members organize a Meet Maryville event several times a year.

The next one is fast approaching — Sept. 17 — and registration is now open. There's no cost to attend, and you'll get a crash course in all things Scots. President Bryan F Coker will be on hand to welcome attendees (and most likely take some of his famous selfies with them!); the Admissions staff will go over all of the myriad financial aid and scholarship packages available; representatives from all of our divisions will be available to answer questions and help potential students further explore their academic choices; you'll get an idea of what student life is like as a Scot; plus you'll get a meal, a T-shirt and a chance to watch the Maryville College Football team play afterward!

We believe wholeheartedly that Maryville College offers the best opportunity for higher education in the Southeast, if not the country, but we don't want you to take our word for it. Come see for yourself, and let our Admissions team rock stars help you figure out your future!

Be successful. Make a difference. That's what Maryville is all about. Our students live and learn in

Welcome to our first group of MAT graduate students at Maryville College!

We can't wait to see all that you accomplish here, and just know that you'll "do good on the largest possible scale!"

And we're off! Last fall, the Tennessee Department of Education and the College's accrediting body gave us the greenlight to offer a master of arts in teaching (M.A.T.) degree with an emphasis in secondary STEM.

This morning, the first students of the new program arrived on campus, and they'll spend the day getting an overview of both Maryville College, STEM and the curriculum for the program, which is specially designed for people who are pursuing (or have already earned) a degree in mathematics, biology, chemistry or related field without teacher licensure but would like to teach these subjects in grades 6 through 12.

From an educational perspective, this is pretty historic: While the College offered theological degrees and master’s degrees at its founding in 1819, it has awarded only bachelor’s degrees for most of its history. Thank you, MAT students, for being a part of this milestone!
