STEM provides inquiry-based learning activities that give students more practice in observation and thinking, data-gathering, forming hypotheses/making predictions, applying mathematics, and communicating technical results – all while having fun. In this project, students were to apply Newton’s laws and Bernoulli’s principle to understand lift. Additionally, they were to answer the question, “How fast can these gliders fly?” To address the problem, they needed to control all variables that led to the calculation of the motorized plane average speeds using circumference, the number of laps flown, and the time aloft. ~Dr. Hebert~
