Your membership not only grants you access to our vibrant community and a plethora of activities but also supports our mission to assist
and encourage new homeschoolers throughout the year. Our annual academic membership year runs from June 1, 2024, to May 31, 2025.
How to Join BHEA:
Step 1 - Register under the "Request New Family Membership" link under the "How to Join BHEA" tab or click here: https://www.bhea.net/2103/signup
Complete your family profile (make sure the email you use is one you check often!), your children's grade levels, areas in which you wouldlike to volunteer to help the organization grow and flourish, and the grade sections that will be appropriate for your family in the upcoming academic year.
If you have been a member in the past but not currently and unable to log in, please email the membership coordinator to have your profile unlocked so that you can register DO NOT create a new profile.
Opt into the Membership Directory for enhanced member-to-member communication.
Answer all the questions and then once you have proven you are not a robot click "Continue" at the bottom.
Step 2 -PAY The Family Membership fee is $30 for the 2024-2025 academic year, covering your whole household through May
31st, 2025. The price is fixed no matter when you join until the end of the academic year. You will now be prompted to login into the account that you just created and complete the payment process to complete the registration process. Click the check box next to $30 on the accounting page and click "Pay Now" to proceed to the invoice, where you can pay with your PayPal account or a debit/credit card. Payment of the Membership fee confirms your agreement with the BHEA Handbook and makes you eligible to sign up on the much-coveted Initial Signup Day for the Enrichment Program Session Signups in June! The 2024-2025 BHEA Handbook can be viewed here: https://www.bhea.net/bheahandbook2023_24 and on the Main Menu via the "BHEA Handbook 2024-2025" link (on your phone it is "Main Menu" then "Secondary Menu" then "BHEA Handbook 2024-2025")
As the approval process is done MANUALLY by our membership coordinator, please know that it is not automatic approval. She is working hard on approving new families and renewals and will do so as quickly as she can! Please submit your payment immediately to ensure there is no additional wait time.
Please note: Registering for the optional Enrichment Program is a separate process. Now you must STOP and wait to be approved before you can register for the Enrichment Program
You will receive an email when your membership application has been approved and your payment has been confirmed. At that time you will be able to login to the website at www.bhea.net with the username and password you created during registration and register for the Enrichment Program if you wish to do so.
How to register for the Enrichment Program:
You can view the Fall 2024 Enrichment Sessions lineup and then decide if you would like to register for the Enrichment Program. You can view

To participate, there is a Registration Fee of $50 per family per year, whether you enroll for one semester or two. Additionally, each
instructor sets their own fees, which you can find by clicking on the session names for full descriptions.
In order to sign up on the Initial Sign up day for Fall 2024 Enrichment Sessions during Initial Sign Ups on Friday, June 7th you MUST have registered for
BHEA Membership AND registered for the Enrichment Program by 11:59 pm on Monday, June 3rd, 2024. If this deadline has passed that is fine! You have the rest of the summer to register for remaining sessions after Initial Signups!

We are thrilled to announce Della Turnmire as the recipient of the Lisa Best Entrepreneurial Scholarship. Della's passion, determination, and commitment to her dreams stood out among a pool of exceptional applicants. Her dedication to pursuing a career in cosmetology, combined with her entrepreneurial spirit, embodies the values of the scholarship.
Della's journey in cosmetology began with a passion for theater make-up, which evolved into a concrete plan during an Intro to Business class. She intends to pursue an associate degree in business at Pellissippi before attending the Douglas J. Aveda Institute in Knoxville for cosmetology. Her vision includes opening Eclipse Beauty & Bridal with her sister, leveraging her mother's connections in the wedding services industry. Her ambition to become highly certified and potentially teach in the field showcases her long-term commitment to her craft.

Please join us in celebrating Ethan Elder, this year's recipient of the BHEA Outstanding Senior Scholarship. Ethan's dedication and leadership have been exemplary, serving as BHEA's Student Correspondent for The Daily Times, leading the Student Council, and participating in various co-op classes, extracurriculars, and community service projects. With over 80 college credit hours, he has shown exceptional commitment to excellence. Ethan's service extends beyond academics, volunteering at the Blount County Community Food Connection, and supporting veterans. His impact and leadership are truly inspiring. The President's Volunteer Service Award is a prestigious civil honor bestowed by the President of the United States to recognize outstanding volunteers who dedicate their personal time to helping others through voluntary service. Established in 2003 by then-president George W. Bush through an executive order, this award is a symbol of commitment to community service and making a positive impact on society.
Individual students can earn this esteemed award by completing a certain number of hours of voluntary service. Recipients can achieve the Gold, Silver, or Bronze award, depending on the total hours of service completed. Families and organizations can also be recognized for their collective efforts.

Homeschool 101 Seminar - April 30 - 5:30 Curriculum Tables Open & 6:15 p.m. Presentation
Blount County Public Library, in partnership with the Blount Home Education Association (BHEA), will offer a Homeschool 101 seminar on Tuesday evening, April 30, at the library in Maryville. Curriculum tables will be available beginning at 5:30 pm in the hallway and seasoned homeschool parents will be available to answer individual questions. The Homeschool 101 formal presentation will begin at 6:15 p.m. in the Sharon Lawson Room.
Homeschool 101 is an informative session for those interested in homeschooling, new homeschoolers, and current homeschoolers who still have questions about curriculum, teaching strategies, or are just new to the area and would like to hear more about the laws governing homeschooling in Tennessee. It is geared to both prospective and new homeschoolers. It will feature a Question and Answer session and provide ample opportunity to chat with current homeschoolers and to view their curriculum.

- The benefits of homeschooling.
- Getting started and legally registering to homeschool.
- The varying approaches to homeschooling.
- An introduction to what BHEA offers local homeschoolers in terms of support.

More about our featured Speaker:
Diane graduated from Adrian College in Michigan with a degree in Psychology and continued on to earn a M.A. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology. She spent nearly ten years in the corporate world before moving to the college environment where she has taught Psychology for over 17 years. Diane has been involved in the homeschooling world since 2005 when it became time for her son to โstartโ school. She has been active with BHEA since then, teaching co-op classes, facilitating roundtables, training, and presentations for parents, as well as coaching students on transitioning from high school to college. Diane is now the Director of Academics and Counseling at HomeLife Academy.
The son she started homeschooling in 2005 recently graduated with honors from the University of Tennessee Chattanooga.
