Here's a little bit about our Chair, David Dawson!
David Dawson is a Maryvillian thru and thru. Born at Blount Memorial Hospital, David attended St. Andrews Day school, Sam Houston, Fort Craig, Maryville Middle, Maryville High, and Maryville Collegeโฆthen went to work at Blount Memorial Hospital. David is now employed at Pilot Company in Knoxville where he works as an IT Director. David hopes that his time on the board will somehow help Maryville City Schools to continue to provide the same high level of education that he experienced โค๏ธ

Last night Sam Houston Elementary School held their annual "Third Grade Graduation" ceremony to honor these Smokies and congratulate them for completing their final year in Elementary school!

We are so excited to announce that Foothills Elementary, Montgomery Ridge, and Maryville Academy received a total of $25,938 in grant funds! These grants are essential in enriching the lives of students at our schools.

Starlight Gala Foundation Partnership Award Recipients: Steve and Vallie Collins ๐
Steve and Vallie Collins have been huge supporters of Maryville City Schools for numerous years and continuously pour into the community! They have sent three children through MCS, they have served on MCSF Board & Chair for a combined 10 years, they have volunteered at Miles for Maryville, and serve in the schools as Vallie has been a reading buddy at Sam Houston Elementary for 5 years.
โ Steve and Vallie are extremely generous to Maryville City Schools and the Foundation and choose to make an impact in our community every day!

Starlight Gala Distinguished Alumni Award Recipient: Cathy Cate๐
Mrs. Cathy Cate is a Maryville High School class of 1987 graduate and she furthered her education at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. She went on to be part of the team at Lipscomb university that created the first statewide leadership program in Tennessee; Cathy was named the program's Executive Director, and is truly what starlight is all about. Cathy Cate is dependable, constant, and present and all who know her sing her praises.

Starlight Gala Distinguished Alumni Award Recipient: Shane Archer๐
Mr. Shane Archer is a Maryville High School class of 2006 graduate and attended Ruben Allen College of Cosmetology and graduated in 2007. Shane opened his prestigious salon, Grow Knoxville, in 2015. He is also currently a Tennessee School of Beauty Cosmetology educator, Kevin Murphy and LโANZA educator, and Barbizon modeling educator. Shane is highly involved in several local charitable associations including The Office on Aging Senior Companion Program, The Wesley House Community Center, The Butterfly Fund for Childhood Cancer, The Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, East Tennessee Childrenโs Hospital, Habitat for Humanity, and serves as a mentor for the Tennessee School of Beauty students.
โ Shane is an excellent example that anyone can succeed if they work hard, do what they love, and take the time to give back to those in need.

Starlight Gala Distinguished Alumni Award Recipient: Joe Costner ๐
Mr. Joe Costner is a Maryville High School class of 1969 graduate and went on to play football at Maryville College where he became an All American quarterback. He attended the University of Memphis Law School in pursuit of becoming an attorney. In February of 2022, Mr. Costner was inducted into the American College of Trial Lawyers, where membership is only awarded to the top 1% of trial attorneys with high ethical and moral standards as well as excellent character.
โ His most notable contribution continues to be his never ending willingness to serve residents of Blount County without charging a fee. Joe Costner dedicates his time and his staff to finding the best possible solution no matter what.
