It's been a full summer here at Praise and Promise, full of planning and getting ready for the year ahead. We also celebrated two big pieces of news: both Mrs. Dahl and Ms. Emily welcomed baby girls this summer. 👶💕 We are so happy for their families and are giving them the time they need to rest and bond at home. Our teaching team will be covering their classrooms this month, and we can't wait for everyone to meet the babies (and see mom again) when they return later in the fall.

As summer winds down, here are a few simple ways to help your preschooler get ready. Talk with them about what preschool will look like, read a book or two about starting school, and practice a few routines like washing hands or putting on their jacket by themselves. We'd also love to see you at one of our upcoming events in the next few weeks 🥞🎒(check your email for details!), a great chance to help your child get comfortable before the first day.

We can't wait for the year ahead. ☀️

Our 3/4 Preschool class has spots remaining for children who are 3 years old by September 1. Our Pre-K class is full, but we welcome you to reach out about our waitlist.

There is nothing quite like watching a little one experience live music. ☀️

Here are three free concerts happening near you this summer:

🎶 Marysville Sounds of Summer Concert Series — Kid-focused performers every Wednesday at noon at Comeford Park. July 15, 22, 29 and August 5, noon to 1pm. Details at marysvillewa.gov.

🎶 Music at Legion Park, Arlington — Saturday evenings from 6 to 7:30pm at the Farmers Market on N Olympic Avenue. Dates run through September. Details at arlingtonwa.gov.

🎶 Music at Smokey Point Park — Friday evenings at 6pm at 17903 Smokey Point Blvd. Next up: August 7 and September 4. Details at arlingtonwa.gov.

Some playgrounds are worth putting on the calendar. ☀️

Here are four favorites for preschool families in our area:

✨ Emma Yule Park, Everett — A pretend storefront, music makers, a trike track, and the TriRunner — part carousel, part zipline, part spinning ride. Plan to stay a while.
🌊 Lake Goodwin Community Park, Stanwood — Sandy beach, shallow swimming, playground, and a picnic shelter right on the lake. Arrive early on weekends!
🌲 Miner's Corner, Bothell — A fully accessible nature playground with a water garden, fossil dig, woodland trails, and a 10-foot lookout tower.
🛝 Jennings Park, Marysville — Three playgrounds and plenty of room to roam. The newer Jennings Nature Park playground is a favorite with the preschool crowd.

Looking for a summer day trip that feels like a real adventure? Camano Island is just down the road. ☀️

Pick your adventure:
🌲 Freedom Park — A Viking-themed castle playground built by 1,000 volunteers, with a toddler area, swings, slides, sculpture garden, and picnic tables. Free and right at the entrance to the island.
🌿 Iverson Spit Preserve — Walk the flat, easy Hobbit Trail and hunt for gnomes hidden along the path. At the end you'll find a sandy shallow beach that's ideal for little ones to wade in.
🌊 Camano Island State Park — Rocky shoreline, forested trails, and sweeping views of Puget Sound. Keep an eye out for deer, chipmunks, and eagles. A Discover Pass is required for parking — day passes are $10, or borrow one free from your local Sno-Isle Library through the Check Out WA program. Bonus: August 9 is Smokey Bear's Birthday, a free day at all Washington State Parks!

Your local library might be the best free summer spot you're not using yet. ☀️
Here are four branches close to home with something special for little ones:
📚 Marysville Library — A dedicated children's area with toys and coloring sheets, plus drop-in play sessions with music and books on Thursdays at 9:30am
📚 Lakewood/Smokey Point Library — Toys, manipulatives, board games, and craft supplies available anytime in the kids area, plus Tuesday play sessions at 10:00am
📚 Arlington Library — Board games and children's play items available anytime, plus kids can sign up to read aloud to therapy dogs all summer long
📚 Stanwood Library — Puzzles, fidgets, blocks, a light board, art supplies, and board games available anytime in the kids area
While you're there, sign up for the Sno-Isle Summer Reading Program. Listening to books counts toward prizes, and free books are available at any branch through August 8.
Storytime and play sessions run all summer at branches near you. Check sno-isle.org for the full schedule and to register for events.

Hot day? We've got you. ☀️

We're Praise and Promise Preschool, and all summer long we'll be sharing our favorite things to do with little ones in our corner of the PNW. First up: free splash pads.

☀️ Comeford Spray Park, Marysville — open 11am–7pm. Spray cannons, water jets, and rotating streams. Bonus: the park opens an hour early on Tuesdays for families of children with special recreational needs.
☀️ Haller Park Splash Pad, Arlington — open 11am–7pm. Pond-themed features, animal water sprayers, and a snack shack right there when someone inevitably gets hungry.
☀️ Willis Tucker Spray Pad, Snohomish — open 10am–7pm. Power volcano, splash palace, water cannons. Worth the drive. Bring sand toys for the sandbox next door.

🎪 What a show! Our Pre-K class brought down the house at this year's Circus Graduation! From clowns to acrobats to lion tamers, these incredible kids reminded us why we love what we do every single day. We are SO proud of each and every one of them.
