_____________________________________________________
On Thursday, Aug. 27, 2026, at approximately 2:16 p.m., Yuba County Sheriff’s Office personnel responded to Yuba College in Marysville regarding a male subject, identified as 21-year-old
Carson Boyd, of Granite Bay, who was detained for allegedly impersonating a peace officer on the college campus.
Upon deputies arrival, Boyd initially identified himself as a sworn peace officer with a California agency police department. Boyd later admitted he was not a peace officer and had been wearing a badge belonging to a family member. The firearm in his possession was determined to be an imitation Glock-style pellet gun.
Boyd was subsequently taken into custody and transported to the Yuba County Jail. Boyd was booked on charges including impersonating a peace officer, bringing a prohibited projectile device onto a college campus, and openly displaying an imitation firearm in a public place, among other weapons-related violations.
The case will be forwarded to the Yuba County District Attorney’s Office for review and prosecution.
