Yesterday we competed at AVA, putting together a strong performance across the board.
Smaller tournaments bring a different kind of challenge. With limited brackets, competitors often get moved up in weight, age, or skill divisions just to get matches. This time around, several of our athletes were bumped up multiple divisions.
That creates tough matchups and forces athletes to adapt quickly against bigger, older, or more experienced opponents.
But despite that, the team showed up ready to work and embraced those challenges all day.
Team Results
🥇 10 Gold
🥈 7 Silver
🥉 1 Bronze
🏆 1st Place Youth Team
🏆 1st Place Overall Team
We're all really proud of the effort and the way this team continues to step into difficult situations and compete the right way.

This past weekend, Darrick made his official MMA debut and secured a second-round submission against one of the top fighters in the region. But the result isn’t the most important part. It’s how he got there.
Darrick is an emotional guy. He cares deeply about what he’s doing, and that energy is part of what makes him dangerous.
In the fight, he stayed calm and composed. He followed the plan and made good decisions under pressure. He kept control of the moment.
You don’t remove emotion. You direct it. You stay in the driver’s seat, make your decisions, and execute with clarity. Then, when the work is finished, you can feel everything that comes with it.
Emotions aren’t the problem. Control is.
Stay in control.
Congratulations Darrick!!! Amazing Performance!!!

This past Saturday the team competed at Grappling Industries, one of the more consistent tournaments in the region and a good test across both youth and adult divisions.
Events like this bring a mix of experience levels and styles, forcing our athletes to adjust from match to match. Different pacing, different reactions, and different problems to solve every round.
That’s exactly what we’re looking for.
The team showed up ready to work and handled those challenges well throughout the day.
Tournament Results
🥇 6 Gold
🥈 6 Silver
🥉 5 Bronze
🏆 3rd Place Youth Team
Later that night, four of our athletes stepped into the cage at Battle in the Basement.
That environment is a big step up. Smaller space, more pressure, and no separation from the crowd. It’s a different kind of test, especially for younger athletes.
We went 2–2 on the night. Erwin dropped a hard-fought wrestling match by decision, and Garrett lost a tight match in overtime. Kaleo and Annika both secured tough wins by submission in their grappling matches.
Long day across two very different competition environments, and the team stayed consistent from start to finish.
Days like this take a lot of coordination behind the scenes. Coaches managing matches, parents keeping athletes ready, and everyone working together to keep things moving. That support shows up when it’s time to compete.
Proud of the effort and the way this group continues to step into different environments and represent the team the right way.
Back to the mats. The work continues.
