This past weekend we took a small crew of 8 competitors to Proving Grounds Submission Only and put together another strong showing.

Proving Grounds' Submission Only rule set creates a different kind of competition environment. With no points to protect and no advantage to hold onto, the objective is simple: hunt for the finish. That creates an aggressive style of grappling built around constant attacks, transitions, and submission attempts.

It’s an environment that gives our athletes an opportunity to open up, take chances, and test their ability to create and finish opportunities against resisting opponents.

Our small crew made the most of it.

Taking 5th Place Overall with only eight competitors is a great accomplishment and a reflection of how hard this group competed throughout the day.

As always, thank you to our coaches, parents, and families who kept everyone supported and ready to compete. These events only work because everyone plays a part.

Proud of the work and proud of the way this group represented the team.

This past weekend we competed at NAGA and put together a strong performance against some tough competition.

NAGA’s rule set allows a wider range of submissions than most of the tournaments we compete at throughout the year. That changes the environment. Athletes have more attacks they need to be prepared for, more problems to solve, and less room for mistakes.

That’s part of what makes events like this valuable. Competition gives us an opportunity to test what we’re doing in the gym against different opponents, different styles, and different rule sets.

Our team showed up ready for the challenge.

As always, none of this happens alone. Thank you to the coaches who spent the day moving from mat to mat, the parents and families who kept everyone organized and ready, and the teammates who supported each other throughout the tournament.

We’re proud of everyone who stepped onto the mats and represented the team the right way.
