In a 1998 BusinessWeek interview Steve Jobs said "It's really hard to design products by focus groups. A lot of times, people don't know what they want until you show it to them." When asked in another interview what market research went into the iPad he said, "None. It's not the consumers' job to know what they want." Jobs was a visionary who could see what people wanted before they did. Comeford College is working to create the "iPad" of higher education. Most people settle for the old way of doing things until someone shows them a new and better way. A recent Gallup Poll found only 35% of Americans now believe a college eduction is very important. What the study did not look into is what the average American thinks and education is for. In 1903 W. E. B. Du Bois, the first African American to earn a Ph.D. from Harvard, wisely observed that "The object of all true education is not to make men carpenters; it is to make carpenters men." Comeford College is all about equipping men and women to be the kind of people who can advance Christ honoring culture regardless of their chosen profession.
