THE BEASTS OF REVELATION: CHAPTER 1
[ PT. 1 ] - The Book of Revelation is perhaps the most misunderstood book in the entirety of the Bible. And even for the most experienced theologian it can be difficult to understand. In the earliest chapters there is talk of seven golden candlesticks. Later, four horsemen of the apocalypse, known as the four horsemen of the apocalypse, riding on different colored horses with scales and bows. Then there are vials and angels and plagues poured out on the earth. Seals are opened. The sun turns black and the moon turns to blood. Then there appears a woman in heaven, a beast with seven heads and ten horns, and towards the end there is a city descending from the heavens. These are some of the major ones. There are probably hundres of images like this recorded in the Book of Revelation. It is no wonder that my experience has been that pastors are reluctant tobase their sermons on this book. Part of the difficulty in understanding Revelation derives from the fact that it is a book written in symbol. Adding to the complexity is that Revelation is a prophetic book.
