📚🍦 FROM ICE CREAM TO BASEBALL… OUR SCHOLARS ARE SERVING UP LITERACY WITH A SIDE OF LEADERSHIP! ❤️🐎
Our MEHS EAST Student-Led Library Project is in FULL MOTION!🚀
Today, one of our very own MEHS EAST student and cheerleader, Madisyn Lowery, stepped into the role of literacy leader, reading How Is Ice Cream Made? by Grace Hansen with our second-grade scholars!
🍦 What started as a sweet story turned into meaningful learning about how ice cream is made, the steps in a process, and food groups! And on a day this beautiful, our outdoor classroom and a scoop of ice cream would have been the PERFECT combination!
But the learning didn't stop there!
📖 With a few minutes remaining, our second graders independently picked up Baseball Saved Us by Ken Mochizuki—the same book State Representative Mark McElroy shared earlier today—and practiced peer reading!
💙 NOW THAT'S WHAT WE CALL A FULL-CIRCLE LITERACY MOMENT!
One student leading. Younger scholars learning. Books connecting classrooms. And literacy continuing long after the guest reader leaves!
✨ This is EAST in action—student leadership, collaboration, communication, and meaningful service!
