Welcome!
Martinsville High School is proud to announce the hiring of Kristen Lovell as the school’s new Athletic Director, following the May 26, 2026, School Board Special Session.
A 1998 graduate of Martinsville High School, Lovell returns home to lead the Artesian athletic program after 17 years in education and numerous years of coaching experience ranging from college to youth sports. Her background in education, leadership, and student development makes her a strong addition to the Martinsville community and athletic department.
Lovell said she is “...excited to return home and serve the Artesian Nation while supporting student-athletics, coaches, and the Martinsville community.”
Superintendent Eric Bowlen praised the hire and expressed confidence in the future of the high school athletic program under her leadership.
“This is a great hire for Martinsville,” said Bowlen. “She brings the spirit the Artesians deserve, and I am ready to see what she accomplishes for the students, coaches, and community.”
Lovell will officially begin her duties as high school athletic director on July 1, 2026.

The MSD of Martinsville School Board unanimously voted to approve Mr. Bill Wallace as the Martinsville High School Principal.
Bill Wallace has been named the new principal of Martinsville High School, bringing nearly three decades of educational experience and a lifelong connection to the Martinsville community.
A 1994 graduate of Martinsville High School and a graduate of Ball State University, Wallace returns home after 28 years in education, including 10 years serving in leadership roles. His passion for students, commitment to excellence, and great Artesian pride make him uniquely suited to lead Martinsville High School into the next chapter.
Wallace and his wife, Becky, have three children.
“I’m excited to return to Martinsville,” said Wallace. “MHS played a significant role in providing me with the tools to be successful, and I look forward to working with staff members to provide current students with the same opportunities that helped me grow.”
Superintendent Eric Bowlen praised the selection, saying, “Bill is a great individual with the Artesian spirit who is ready to lead. His experience, passion for education, and connection to Martinsville make him the right person to guide Martinsville High School into the future.”
Martinsville Schools looks forward to welcoming Wallace into his new role and continuing the strong tradition of success and community pride at Martinsville High School.
