Thank you Henry County Public Schools for letting us spend the week with FCMS’ 6th Grade GO TEC Virginia students this week! We ended the week learning about coding with micro:bits and Dash Robots! We’re excited for another fun week with these students in two weeks!

The FCMS 6th grade GO TEC Virginia students were measuring up to the challenge today! 😎 They wrapped up their lesson on precision measurement by using calipers to measure lollipops and Jolly Ranchers! 🍭

Then things got a little more mind-blowing as students dove into neuroscience and explored how the brain works. 🧠✨ And the best part? They got to put their brainpower to the test by racing cars with their minds on our BrainCo race track! 🏎️💨

From measuring candy to moving cars with their minds, these students are showing that STEM learning can be seriously sweet—and a whole lot of fun! 🚀

We’re loving this hands-on partnership with Henry County Public Schools and can’t wait to see what Day 3 brings! 💙

These future innovators got hands-on with Metrology by measuring something we can all agree is pretty sweet — Life Savers! 🍬📏

A huge thank you to Henry County Public Schools for partnering with us to provide students with hands-on opportunities to explore STEM and advanced manufacturing. We can’t wait to keep the momentum rolling with more GO TEC students over the next few weeks! 🚀

Happening at the Center on September 22!

𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗪𝗣𝗛𝗘𝗖 𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺𝘀 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝗮𝗰𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘀 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗻 𝗩𝗶𝗿𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗮.

Join the Southern Piedmont Technology Council (SPTC) for 𝗥𝗼𝗯𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗪𝗣𝗛𝗘𝗖, an interactive look at how regional robotics programs help students develop skills in engineering, programming, design, teamwork, and leadership.

The STAGS Robotics Team received SPTC’s 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗶𝗻 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 and includes public school and homeschool students from across the region.

Attendees will see a robot demonstration, visit interactive stations, speak with students and WPHEC educators, and have an opportunity to drive the STAGS robot. The program will also highlight WPHEC’s EduTech Library, GO TEC partnership, and regional STEM resources.

We’re excited to see Twain Lumber Company investing $7.4 million to bring a former industrial site back to life and create 74 new jobs in Henry County.

Investments like this strengthen our local economy, create new opportunities for our workforce, and help build a stronger future for Southern Virginia. We’re proud to see continued momentum and growth happening right here in the West Piedmont region!

Twain Lumber Company will invest $7.4 million to purchase and reopen the former Teal Jones sawmill in Henry County. Once operational, the facility is expected to create 74 new jobs and purchase more than $51.2 million in Virginia grown forest products over the next three years.

The investment will also bring the facility back into productive use, with upgrades that will increase its capacity and strengthen Henry County’s role in Virginia’s forestry industry.

We are grateful to Twain Lumber Company for investing in Henry County and to the state, federal and regional partners who helped make this project possible.
