Meet Tresita Holland, a proud Martinsville High School graduate who's now making a difference right here at MCPS!
A member of the Mavahi Class of 1996, Tresita teaches health and P.E. at Martinsville Middle School and serves as a coach. She says she decided to return to MCPS because she wanted to give back to the children of her community, just as her coaches and teachers did for her.
πΎ Favorite MCPS memory: her time as a Martinsville Lady Bulldog.
π Most influential teacher: Larry "Scrooge" Hairston
π Why MCPS? Tresita says she loves working at MCPS because there's never a dull moment. There's always something new, fun, and exciting happening.
When asked why she would recommend working for MCPS, her answer was simple: "FAMILY."
"My co-workers and principals are the best to work with and for!"
We're proud to have Tresita back at MCPS, teaching, coaching, and inspiring new generations of Bulldogs!

Meet Bryan Hairston, a proud Martinsville High School graduate who's now making a difference right here at MCPS!
Bryan graduated in 1989 and, after some time away, decided he wanted to return to his alma mater to inspire new generations of students and help them understand that there's a vast world beyond Martinsville waiting for them to explore.
πΎ Bryan's favorite MCPS memory is attending state championship games throughout his school years and experiencing the close-knit spirit of the Martinsville community.
π Bryan says he was fortunate to learn from many educators who inspired and influenced him during his time at MCPS, including Ms. Street, Mrs. Ethel Fountain, Mrs. Vanessa Redd Hailey, Mrs. Ruby Hairston, Mr. Jimmy Hailey, Mr. Starr, Coach Taylor Edwards, Coach Ricky Hailey, Coach Husky Hall, Coach Turner, Coach Mike Shifflett, Coach Larry Turner, Coach Bill Stultz, Coach Spencer Chang, Coach Ron, and Pete Epperly, Coach Carla Giles, Mrs. Ivey, Mr. and Mrs. McGraw, Mrs. Wood, Mr. Billy Via, Coach Big E Hairston, Mr. Vickers, Mrs. Holland, Denny Hammock, Mrs. Cheryl Fulton, Mrs. Cynthia Noel, Mr. Keen, Mr. Charles Hairston, Mr. Finley, Ms. Linda Dodson, Mrs. Zelen Battle, Ms. Gordon, Ms. Hatfield, Mr. Pritchett, and Coach Larry "Scrooge" Hairston
π Bryan says what sets MCPS apart is the trust and autonomy employees are given to do their jobs well without micromanagement. Most of all, he values the opportunity to mentor and encourage the next generation of Martinsville's young people.
We're proud to have Bryan back at MCPS, helping today's Bulldogs discover their potential and prepare for the opportunities that await them.

We've had a fantastic first month of Bulldog Basketball Camp, and there's still more to come!
One thing that makes this camp special is the opportunity for players to learn and grow over several days in a small-group setting. That means every camper receives individualized instruction from our Bulldog coaches and players while building skills, confidence, and a love for the game.
Our coaching staff puts a great deal of time and effort into planning each camp session to ensure every player gets meaningful instruction, personal attention, and opportunities to improve. We love seeing campers come back each day to build on what they're learning.
July's camps offer even more specialized instruction:

The Dawg House was the place to be this week as rising 6th-9th graders took over the Bulldog Basketball Academy! ππΎ
Campers worked alongside Bulldog coaches, players, and alumni to sharpen their skills under the state championship banners that line the walls of the legendary Dawg House.
There's still time to join the fun! Remaining sessions are open to boys and girls of all skill levels and offer a great opportunity to learn from Bulldog coaches and players while building basketball fundamentals and confidence on the court.
The camps are open to all area youth- you do not need to be enrolled in Martinsville City Public Schools to attend. However, pre-registration is required.
We hope to see you in the Dawg House this summer! πΎπ
