Sometimes the best classroom is right down the street! ☕📋
On Friday, Mrs. Porter’s CTE students headed to The Ground Floor for some community-connected work-based learning as they prepare for some exciting things happening with our student-run small businesses. 👀
Their assignment was simple: observe and experience the ins and outs of running a successful coffee shop!
Students took notes on everything from décor and atmosphere to inventory placement, observed how employees interacted with customers, and, of course, got a little firsthand experience from the customer side of the counter.
Experiences like this give our students a chance to take what they’re learning in the classroom and see how it works in the real world, right here in Martinsville. When students are preparing to run businesses of their own, the best people to learn from are the ones already doing it well!
These CTE students have some exciting things in the works and we can't wait to share it with you when the time is right.
For now, we're sending a huge thank you to The Ground Floor for welcoming our students and giving them a great local example of entrepreneurship, customer service, and small business in action!
