IYanni Akridge is a previous student of Martinsville City Adult Education. She returned this year with a dream of earning her GED® Credential before the end of the 2021-2022 school year. This week IYanni made her dream become closer to reality; when she sent the Lead Teacher a text at approximately 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 16, 2022, stating, “I just passed two of my GED® Ready Tests Math and Reading.”
Just when it seemed it could not get better, the next morning IYanni texted the Lead Teacher at 5:45 a.m. stating, “I just passed my Social Studies GED® Test.” IYanni took the initiative and paid out-of-pocket for the Math, Reading, and Social Studies tests. Congratulations were texted to IYanni.” She replied via text, “I plan to take the Science GED® Ready Test and pass it as well.”
While registering for vouchers to assist with cost for the actual GED® tests, IYanni shared, “I never had problems academically while in school. I got pregnant and dropped out. I want to finish high school that is truly my goal!”
We are proud of IYanni’s accomplishments and believe her success will lead to an outcome of earning the GED® credential.
