Girls on the Run is coming to Potomack Intermediate! 💜🏃‍♀️

We are excited to offer this fun, confidence-building after-school program for 3rd–5th graders!

At Girls on the Run, participants will:
✨ Build confidence and learn to be themselves
✨ Develop social-emotional skills
✨ Learn to listen deeply, show empathy, and encourage others
✨ Learn to learn from mistakes and persevere using stick-with-it strategies
✨ Have fun through a curriculum that combines running, movement, and friendship!

📚 Brand-new curriculum
🏃‍♀️ Trained coaches
💜 Recognized by Harvard as a top social-emotional learning program

* Season: September 1–November 15
* Days: Tuesdays & Thursdays
* Time: 3:45–5:15 p.m.
* Location: Potomack Intermediate
* Registration Fee: $160
* Financial assistance is available to families in need during registration and is based on a sliding scale.

Our staff culture committee hosted their first event of the year… a banana split bar! 🍌🍦

Staffulty members had the opportunity to create, customize and enjoy a banana split during their lunch block. A delicious way to start the week!😋

What a way to kick off another school year! 💙

A HUGE thank you to everyone who helped make another Chalk the Walk a success! Our sidewalks were filled with colorful messages, encouragement, and excitement as we welcomed our Eagles back for the first day of school!

We are so grateful for our amazing staffulty, families, and volunteers who helped make this special tradition possible. Your time, creativity, and support helped set the tone for an incredible year! 🦅

Meet our ren team committee heads! These are the ladies working behind the scenes to lead our committees. Whether it’s rallies, staffulty culture, yearbook, finance or school of distinction, they are just a small piece of the puzzle that helps make our Jostens Renaissance initiatives so successful!

Let’s give a huge thank you to Mrs. Frye, Mrs. Smith, Mrs. O’Donnell, Mrs. Henry and Mrs. Steshoski for preparing our first pep rally and beginning of the year events!🎉

Eagles, it’s time to get EXCITED and break out the spirit wear!🎉

This Friday, our Renaissance team will be hosting our first pep rally of the year! Each grade level will have the opportunity to participate in activities during the rally to get them pumped up for this school year!🌟

Throughout the school year we will have more rallies and memorable activities for students. Some will be announced and some will be a surprise. 🤫

For this Friday, students and staff are asked to wear red, white or blue. Have a River shirt? Even better! Don’t have a River shirt? Ask your child’s teacher for an order form to support our favorite therapy dog.🐶

Wednesday, August 19th | Starting at 4:00 PM

It’s almost time to welcome our students back, and we’re kicking off the school year with some encouragement and positivity!

Chalk will be provided! Come help us cover the sidewalks with encouraging messages, positive words, and first-day-of-school excitement to remind our students that they are capable, supported, and ready to have a GREAT year! 🌟

🖍️ A few reminders:
• Chalk will be provided.
• Please chalk the sidewalks only—do not chalk the building or columns.
• Bring your creativity and your most encouraging messages!

And this year, our friends at Spring Mills Middle School are joining us! 🎉 So, when you finish at Potomack, head over to Spring Mills Middle School and help them Chalk the Walk, too!

We can’t wait to welcome our students back with sidewalks full of encouragement as they begin the school year STRONG! 💙

New for the 2026-2027 school year: Berkeley County Schools will have scheduled 2.5-hour early dismissals on the dates below, replacing the previous use of 2-hour delays for Teacher Prep Time and Faculty Senate Meetings.

🗓️ September 16, 2026 – Teacher Prep Time
🗓️ October 7, 2026 – Faculty Senate Meetings
🗓️ December 18, 2026 – Faculty Senate Meetings
🗓️ January 19, 2027 – Teacher Prep Time
