TRAVEL ALERT: County Road 22 (Ferry View) 🚗⚠️

Attention families, students, and daily commuters:
County Road 22 (Ferry View) was recently resurfaced with a "tar & chip" base.

Please take extra care when driving this route:

• No Road Markings: There are currently no yellow centerlines or white edge/fog lines painted on the road.

•Loose Gravel: Watch for areas with loose gravel, which can cause slipping or kick up debris.

OHIO Eastern faculty expertise is reaching audiences far beyond the classroom.

Dr. Jacqueline Yahn, Associate Professor of Teacher Education at Ohio University Eastern, was recently recognized as one of OHIO’s July 2026 Faculty Newsmakers after being featured by the Associated Press and numerous other news outlets.

Drawing on her expertise in rural education, rural poverty and Appalachian communities, Yahn provided important perspective on a recent case involving 16 children discovered living in deplorable conditions in rural Vinton County. She discussed how isolation from schools, regular medical care and other community systems can make it more difficult for trained professionals to identify concerns about a child’s well-being and development.

Her recognition highlights the important role OHIO Eastern faculty play in bringing research, experience and rural perspectives to conversations taking place locally and nationally.
