This weekend, our education students from the University of Tennessee at Martin had the incredible opportunity to attend the Spring STEA Conference in Nashville at Tennessee Education Association headquarters.
One of the highlights was connecting with our UT System peers from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and the University of Tennessee Southern. It was great to be together and a wonderful reminder of what it means to Be One UT!
Moments like these reflect what it truly means to Be One UT:
๐น Bold and Impactful โ stepping into spaces that prepare future educators to tackle real challenges
๐น Embrace Diversity โ learning alongside peers with different experiences and perspectives
๐น Optimistic and Visionary โ inspiring students to lead with purpose and possibility
๐น Nimble and Innovative โ engaging in new ideas and approaches to education
๐น Excel in All We Do โ representing UT Martin with professionalism and pride
๐น United and Connected โ strengthening relationships across UT campuses
๐น Transparent and Trusted โ building a foundation of integrity and shared purpose
Our students engaged, represented, and embodied the very values that define our system. Experiences like this continue to shape educators who are ready to make a meaningful impact across Tennessee and beyond.

From leading our local chapter meetings to inspiring future teachers statewide! โจ
A huge shout-out to our former STEA President, Will Crawford, who is the guest speaker at todayโs STEA Spring Conference. It is such a joy to watch him transition from a dedicated student leader to a respected educator at Westview High School.
Heโs currently speaking to 80+ aspiring teachers about the reality and rewards of the classroom. Thank you for representing our chapter and UT Martin so well!

If youโd like to help, drop your items by Gooch Hall 240H to Mrs. Lauren Campbell or 239D to Dr. Abbie McClure. We will ensure items get delivered to our local schools!
Second Harvest will not be able to provide the Thanksgiving holiday food boxes this year for students on our backpack program. Martin Schools are collecting items to build our own Thanksgiving boxes for those on the backpack program and those in need this season. You may drop off donations at any Martin school from today through November 18th.

We spent this weekend with a group of wonderful future educators at the Fall STEA Conference in Nashville, TN! We saw old friends, made new friends, planned activities for our campus chapter, ate great food (and ice cream โบ๏ธ), attended professional development, and even escaped the depths of the ocean at Escape Games in Nashville. We had a blast and look forward to our year ahead with UT Martin STEA!
P.S.โ In case anyone wondered, UT Martin + Mr. Tommie totally dominated and escaped first before the other groups! We made it out with 13:30 minutes to go! Get a group of teachers together and we might be a tad competitive. โบ๏ธ

What a fantastic time at the STEA conference! Our aspiring teachers had a blast solving puzzles and working together in an escape room. They also gained valuable insights during professional development sessions on landing their first job and understanding salary schedules. The chapter was also given time to begin planning for the upcoming year. (There may have been a few snack stops along the way!) Students wrapped up the weekend with a trip to McKay Books to begin shopping for their future classroom libraries!
