🍂Fall into Math was SO much fun!

Our Charger families joined us at school for an evening of hands-on math, learning, and lots of fun! Families had the opportunity to experience math the way our students do. The goal was to gain a better understanding of how we teach math, how the learning progresses from Pre-K through second grade, and, most importantly, the WHY behind it all.

A huge HATS OFF to our Parent Engagement Committee for planning such a fun and meaningful event! 👏 And thank you to all of our amazing teachers and staff who helped make the evening happen.

We were especially excited to welcome more than 100 family members into our building, all working together to build a better understanding of our students’ learning and how to support them at home. ❤️

We love seeing our Charger families learning right alongside our students!

💙💛 Celebrating Our September Charger Students! 💛💙
Today we celebrated our Charger Students of the month! 🎉
These students were recognized for demonstrating wonderful behavior, kindness, responsibility, respect, and a positive attitude in their classrooms. They are making great choices and serving as positive examples for others each day!
We are so proud of these students and the character they are showing at school. A huge thank-you to their families for joining us this morning and helping us celebrate their accomplishments! 💙

It might look like we colored, danced, dressed up, and played all day…

But at Martin Primary, we were doing so much more. We were making connections to Tennessee, to literacy, to character, to generosity, and to the kind of people we want our Chargers to become.

Students learned that Dolly Parton was born and raised right here in Tennessee. She was proud of her home, proud of her family, and never forgot where she came from.

We want to be like Dolly. 💕

Students learned that Dolly was a writer. She took the creative thoughts in her head and put them down on paper, then turned those words into music. Our students are learning to find their own voices and become writers, too.

We want to be like Dolly. 💗

Students learned that Dolly became incredibly successful through her music and used her success to generously give back to others.

We want to be like Dolly.💕

Students learned about her Imagination Library, which puts books into the hands of young children, even before they begin school. Dolly understood the power of books and the importance of learning to read.

We want to be like Dolly.💗

Students learned about grit, perseverance, resilience, kindness, generosity, creativity, and a love of learning, the very qualities we are helping our students develop as they grow into the graduates we hope they will become.

And perhaps the best description came from one of our own Chargers:

"She was a legend.” ⭐️

She was a light. She used her talents, her success, and her heart to make the world a little brighter.

So yes… we colored. We danced. We played. We celebrated.

But most importantly, we learned, we connected, and we found another person worth looking up to.

We want to be like Dolly. 💕
