🎓 Student Spotlight: Natasha Ellis-Green
Meet Natasha Ellis-Green, a dedicated student in the School Counseling Master’s program through UT Martin Online, completing her degree from her home in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
With a bachelor’s degree in Sociology & Anthropology from Agnes Scott College, Natasha was drawn to the program for its flexibility, strong reputation, and alignment with her passion for serving students.
“I chose this program because it not only offers the structured training I need to transition into school counseling but also equips me to truly support students—both emotionally and academically,” she shares.
Her piece of advice is, "Develop a positive rapport with your professors, actively connect with your colleagues in the program, and cultivate relationships that will prove beneficial beyond the program."
We’re proud to support students like Natasha who are committed to making a meaningful impact in the lives of others. 💙

From the classroom to the finish line 🎓✨
Meet April Sumner, a proud graduate of the University of Tennessee at Martin Online Master’s in Secondary Education–Teaching program, graduating December 2025!
While teaching full-time at Brainerd High School in Chattanooga, April balanced the demands of a new career, family life with two high school sons, and a rigorous graduate program—all at once.
With the flexibility of UT Martin Online, she was able to work ahead, apply her coursework directly to her classroom, and complete her degree in just a year and a half.
“I never thought I would have a Master’s degree one day, but I am so proud of myself now.” 💙🧡
April’s journey is a powerful example of determination and purpose—pursuing teaching not only as a career, but to support her family’s future.
Her advice for current and future online students? "I definitely recommend looking ahead at all the required assignments and making a strategic plan about when and how to complete them. I always worked ahead so that I never missed a deadline. I also recommend taking eye breaks when possible; it is not good to stare at screens for a long time every day"
Next up: continuing to inspire students in the classroom—with dreams of one day pursuing a doctorate in education or educational leadership.
Help us celebrate April and her incredible accomplishment! 👏
