Future Students: To be considered for UTM's Nursing Program, a minimum composite ACT score of 21 OR a reading subscore of 20 is required. The Department of Nursing encourages you to take advantage of these ACT workshops if you need to improve your score!

June 8-12, the Department of Nursing hosted the Young Scholars Academy—Health Professionals Institute. During the week, high achieving rising juniors and seniors from high schools across the state participated in various health profession activities. In the Nursing department, students learned about the profession of nursing and practiced nursing skills such as V/S, dressing changes, ostomy care, medication administration and dosage calculations. Other disciplines participating during the week-long event included Health and Human Performance and Public Health.

On May 1st, our graduating nursing students were officially pinned in a meaningful ceremony that marked their transition into the nursing profession. Surrounded by family, friends, and faculty, students received their pins, symbolizing their hard work, dedication, and commitment to patient care.

Congratulations to Associate Professor Dr. Christy Blount on being selected for the 2026–2027 Chancellor’s Leadership Academy at UT Martin!

The Chancellor’s Leadership Academy was created to invest in the high-performing faculty and staff already serving UT Martin and to prepare them for future leadership opportunities. Throughout the program, participants will engage in self-reflective work, personalized coaching, and individual assessments while collaborating with members of the Chancellor’s Cabinet and University of Tennessee System leaders. Cohort members will also explore some of the most pressing challenges in higher education and apply what they learn to the real work of our campus.

We are proud to see Christy recognized as part of this outstanding group of emerging leaders and look forward to the positive impact she will continue to make for our students, colleagues, and region. Please join us in congratulating her on this exciting achievement!
