The Tree City USA® program, sponsored by the Arbor Day Foundation in cooperation with the USDA Forest Service and the National Association of State Foresters, provides direction, technical assistance, public attention, and national recognition for urban and community forestry programs in thousands of towns and cities that more than 135 million Americans call home. The many benefits of being a Tree

City include creating a framework for action, education, a positive public image, and citizen pride. There are more than 3400 communities that are currently a Tree City USA. Over 135 million people live in a Tree City USA.

Attention All Marshfield Citizens! The Marshfield Tree City Advisory Committee is on the hunt for the largest tree in town. Do you have a large tree? Join us in a scavenger hunt to celebrate Arbor Day 2021. Competition details are below.

• Competition is for the biggest tree in the City of Marshfield regardless of species.
• Trees must be on private property inside City Limits of Marshfield.
• Nominators are to utilize the measuring rules of the Missouri Champion Tree program in this pamphlet by the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC):https://mdc.mo.gov/sites/default/files/downloads/mostchamptrees_2015_app.pdf
​(Nominators must measure the trees themselves or with help of friends.)
• If a nominator is unsure of species, best guess is fine.
• Nominators will fill out the appropriate fields on the form in the MDC Champion Tree pamphlet and submit to the City Parks office email at [email protected] or mail to Parks at 798 S. Marshall St. Marshfield, MO 65706 by end of business on March 31, 2021. All mailed nominations must be postmarked by March 29, 2021.
• The Marshfield Tree City Committee will review nominations to determine the biggest tree in Marshfield following the guidelines from the Missouri Champion Tree program.
• The five trees with the largest point score will be measured by the Tree City Committee or designee(s) and points for those five trees recalculated.
• The tree with the largest number of points of the five trees remeasured will be named the Biggest Tree in Marshfield.

Had a great turn out for the City of Marshfield's Arbor Day Proclamation. Mayor Robert Williams, Marshfield's Tree City USA Members, City's Urban Foresters Cindy Garner and Paul Johnson, City Staff and around 100 4th graders were all present for the planting of an Autumn Blaze Maple Tree for Arbor Day.

Celebrated Arbor Day with the all the fourth graders at Shook Elementary. Mayor Williams read the proclamation, Paul Johnson presented the Tree City USA of Marshfield a Plaque and a couple lucky fourth graders were able to help plant a tree at the school. It was a good turn out with a great celebration of Arbor Day.

Arbor Day 2016 award ceremony. For the 12th year the City of Marshfield received the Tree City Award, the 9th year for the Tree City Growth Award and this year we received the Missouri Arbor Award of Excellence. An Oklahoma Redbud was planted on the Webster County courthouse grounds to commemorate the event. The first picture is of (from left to right) Cindy Garner, Nancy , Connie Stockton, Connie Newton, Lisa Jameson and Eric Yarnell. Picture 2 is Robert Williams, the Mayor of Marshfield, receiving the Tree City Award from Cindy Garner.
