Steven Maulsby of Cleburne, Texas, passed away peacefully on October 17, 2025.

Born on June 7, 1947, in Marshalltown, Iowa, to Donald Maulsby and Mary West. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War.

Steve is survived by his children: Alison Maulsby, Melissa Maulsby Khul, Nathan Maulsby and Ben Maulsby; grandchildren, Hayden Williams, Valerie and Nickolas Olivarez. He is survived by his brother, Dennis Maulsby, and his stepsister, Nancy Ahern.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Gue and stepfather Howard Gue; stepsisters, Bunny Buchwald and Phyllis Gue.

With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Larry Kerr of Marshalltown, Iowa, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on February 14, 2025 at the age of 78. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Larry Kerr to pay them a last tribute.

In the soft embrace of remembrance, we recall the profound impact Larry had on those he encountered along his journey. Though Larry may have slipped beyond the veil of mortality, his essence lingers like a faint fragrance in the air, a lingering reminder of the beauty and complexity of the human experience.

Visitation will be held on Monday, February 17th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home (1209 Iowa Ave W, Marshalltown, IA 50158). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 18th 2025 at 2:30 PM at the Iowa River Church of the Brethren (2013 Wallace Ave, Marshalltown, IA 50158).

Joann K. Smith, 70, of Marshalltown, IA, passed away on Sunday, December 24, 2017 in the comfort of her own home, after a battle with ovarian cancer.

Public visitation for Joann will be held from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at Mitchell Family Funeral Home. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family and will be distributed to Joann’s 3 favorite charities. Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Joann and her family.Joann was born on November 8, 1947, to Harold and Shirley (Leonard) Snyder in Marshalltown, Iowa. She graduated in 1965 from Marshalltown High School. Joann married Gerald Smith in 1965; they lived most of their lives on acreage East of Marshalltown where they raised their two daughters.

Joann’s pride and love were her daughters and grandchildren. She also loved animals of all kinds, reading mystery novels, gardening (vegetables and flowers), playing board games, doing word puzzles and listening and dancing to “50’s and 60’s Rock N’ Roll music.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband: Gerald Smith, of Marshalltown, IA; two daughters: Chris Cosimi, of Bellevue, NE and Carmen (Michael) Taylor, of Goshen, KY; four grandchildren: Peter Cosimi, of Elkhorn, NE; Cassie Cosimi, of Bellevue, NE; Keegan Taylor, of Goshen, KY and Skylar Taylor, of Goshen, KY; brothers: Thomas (special friend, Pat) Snyder, of Marshalltown, IA and John (Cecile) Snyder, of Fargo, ND; pets: Molly and Punkin; two very special nieces: Nancy Tappe, of Colo, IA and Cindy Jennings, of Nevada, IA; as well as many close family and friends.

Dale Edwin Kneeland, age 77 of Austin, Texas passed away Saturday, October 19, 2024 at home, following a two year battle with cancer. He was born on February 22,1947 in Marshalltown, Iowa. Dale was the son of Delbert and Doris (Bunse) Kneeland. Dale graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1965. After graduation Dale served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam war, where he was the assistant to the chaplain. Following his return home Dale worked for Fisher Controls which changed to Emerson. While working for Fisher Controls, Dale received his BS degree from Buena Vista University. Dale was preceded in death by his parents, wife Sheryl, brother-in-law Merlin Tritle and his furry friend Shay. He is survived by his love and soulmate Phyllis Rousseau, her children Chris (Heidi) Rousseau, Sheila (Jason) Crisp, Jill (Greg) Rousseau, Jolene (Adam) Johnson, 14 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter. He is also survived by one brother Gerald (Sherry) Kneeland of Bertram, Iowa and two sisters Caroline Tritle of Spirit Lake, Iowa and Jan (Fred) Laughlin of Fishers, Indiana.

The family wishes to thank Texas Oncology- Dr. Jaramillo and staff, closest friends Richard Jenc, Roger Clark, Tom and Mary Schoen, special cousins Mike Vance and Marilyn Kneeland, bonus granddaughter Jessica (Marc) Steinberg, plus numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

We thank the wonderful Lord for sharing Dale with us. He will always be remembered with his kind heart, humor and love.

A celebration of life for Dale will be held at a later date.
