Fun Fact Friday!
The DKG Achievement Award honors members who make notable contributions to education and the Society. The award was first proposed by Dr. Blanton in 1933, and although she suggested the idea, she was chosen as the first recipient for her outstanding contributions. Dr. Blanton initially refused the honor but was eventually persuaded to accept it.

At yesterday’s meeting our Jackie Keller did the “Thought of the Day” and it’s still on my mind. She wanted to celebrate Heart Month (American Heart Association) by sharing some important numbers… here they are:

115,000 - the # of times our heart beats in a day

2000 - the # of gallons of blood our heart pumps each day

60,000 - the # of miles of blood vessels our heart pumps blood through

72 - the average # of beats adults hearts beat per minute

11 - the # of ounces our heart weighs

… small size big job, makes all the difference. Let that sink in. Remember to take care of that 11 ounces you carry and depend on daily. Heart disease is the #1 cause of death in women and men.

Had an all inspiring program at our DKG meeting today!! Wendy Prichard Davis did a fun filled Music and Movement program showing us first hand how she incorporates musical pillars and memory into her K-2 music program at Elementary Division-Marshall Public Schools. Thank you so much for making learning fun!!

Paulette spent time this week learning at the Professional Learning Conference at Margaritaville Lake Resort. She even had time to present during a breakout session on Instructional Coaching with Missouri Reading Initiative coworker Angela.
