Please join us in welcoming our new Band Director - Anna Peters!
Anna Peters is excited to be joining the team at Marshall Public Schools as Associate Director of Bands and Director of Bands at Marshall Middle School. Mrs. Peters earned her Bachelor of Music Education from Western Michigan University where she double majored in instrumental and choral education and was a member of the percussion studio. She recently earned her Master of Arts in K-12 Educational Administration from Michigan State University.
Mrs. Peters is heading into her 11th year of teaching and brings a focus on building a positive culture in the band room where students come to class to have fun, work hard, challenge themselves, and feel a strong sense of belonging. Her students enjoy being able to perform challenging and meaningful literature at a high level. Mrs. Peters is an active MSBOA member having served on the District XI executive board as Secretary and Vice President of Band and Orchestra Festival. Mrs. Peters is also an adjudicator for MSBOA Solo and Ensemble Festivals.
Outside of the school day, Mrs. Peters enjoys spendingtime with her husband and their two daughters - ages 3 years old and 5 months. She enjoys being outdoors, practicing yoga, reading, and cooking.
Mr. Root has the following to say about the hiring of Mrs. Peters: "When we began looking to fill this position, it was important to find someone who had both a highly-successful record of teaching and someone who has demonstrated the ability to build a positive culture and connect with students at the Middle School and High school levels. Mrs. Peters is a recognized leader in our MSBOA District and has an incredible level of success at her previous teaching positions. On a personal note, I am thrilled to be able to work with Mrs. Peters and cannot wait for our students, families, and community to meet her."
