We are now using rainwater as the primary irrigation source for our food forest and gardens. The creek pond is now backup. This helps return surges of water that would run off back to the aquifers without using our deep well water. Benefits to us and our immediate environment!

Harvested 20 # of “compost” tomatoes from our perennial gardens. Tomato soup with a sprig of basil and tomato grill cheese on homemade sourdough. I love having fresh food in our gardens!

I pulled a w**d today, mycelium intertwined in its roots, helping feed the soil in my dormant vegetable garden. It made me think of judgements and purpose, my order and that of nature. Chaos, or a pattern I have yet to learn? I need to go learn…

Our sister property, Elk Mountain Preserve, at the end of Lynn Cove in Asheville had severe damage from Helene. What amazes me are most homes were completely spared.
We helped remove trees from our Neighbor’s drive as his wife and children are still stranded.

I won’t say we are blessed here at Wild Harmony to be “roughing” through these sad times in our community amid Helene’s devastation, but tonight we made apple crisp from the apples on the ground around the old apple tree, pasta sauce from the tomatoes that grew out of the compost we used to nourish it, and some bread that somehow came out right without ant recipe since the internet was down when the sourdough starter was ready to do its thing. I’m only loving what we are creating here more every time we fill our bellies and our souls with nature’s greatness.
