Each year the SMSU Choirs love to run a series of social media posts in which we highlight our amazing alumni. For these posts, alumni have the opportunity to talk briefly about the impact that being a member of the SMSU choirs had on them. If you are an alum of the program who hasn't yet participated, we'd love to hear from you! SMSU Students! Placement interviews for the SMSU Choirs start tomorrow. If you love to sing, we want to welcome you to the SMSU Choirs family. You can sign-up for a time on the sheet that is posted on the door to FA 123. It's going to be an extraordinary year and we'd love to have you be a part of it.

SMSU Students! Classes begin on Monday, but it is not too late to add your voice to something extraordinary! Join the SMSU Choirs for the 2026-2027 season. Placement interviews will take place on Monday and Tuesday. We welcome members from across the university, regardless of major. It's going to be a fantastic year and we'd love to have you be a part of it.

Today is move-in day at SMSU. The Kingsbury’s had a great time helping our incoming students move into their dorms. Where else could you see a trombone strapped into the back of a golf cart!??! The year is already off to a great start!

Just under 15 years ago, one of our music education majors at the time poked her head into my office between classes to tell me that she thought she might be interested in getting her PhD someday. Today, I had the great honor and incredible joy of watching her do just that. Dr. Catherine Grimm successfully defended her dissertation at UM- Twin Cities on Belonging and Empowerment in Treble Vocal Ensembles. It was an absolute privilege to be invited to be witness to her incredible work. I could not be more proud. Catherine, all of us at SMSU are celebrating you and your accomplishments. We are so proud to have been a part of your academic journey. Congratulations, Dr. Grimm!

The Kingsbury’s had a wonderful time this afternoon talking to folks at the ACDA-MN Summer Dialogue and the MN All-State Choir camps about all of the amazing opportunities that SMSU has to offer. It was fantastic to get to chat with everyone!

The Dean's List for Spring 2026 was just released. Congratulations to the 11 members of the SMSU Choirs who earned Honors and the 4 members who earned High Honors. We're very proud of your incredible achievements!
