The 13th Annual Christmas Tree Walk at the Lyon County Museum is in full swing, and voting is open through December 31!

Our classrooms got creative making ornaments, and staff (with a few staff kids) turned them into a magical holiday tree.

Winter is here, and the cold weather means heavier coats — but did you know bulky jackets can affect how your child’s car seat harness fits? Remove coats or use a blanket over your child after they’re buckled to ensure a snug and safe fit.

✅ Try the pinch test: You should not be able to pinch any excess webbing at your child’s shoulders once the harness is fastened. If you can, the coat is too bulky!

Our classrooms got creative for the 13th Annual Christmas Tree Walk at the Lyon County Museum! Each class made special ornaments, and then our staff — along with a few of their children — brought them all together to decorate our tree.

The tree walk is officially OPEN, and we’d love your support! You can vote in person at the museum or online now through December 31, 2025.

Our teachers gathered last week to decorate a tree for Light up the Night. Needless to say, it didn't take long to decorate. Let that be a lesson to you, go look at the tree before you pick it! After some laughs though it occurred to us that this growing tree was perfect for us. Its small now, but will continue to grow, just like the kids we're lucky enough to take care for. The holiday season is full of yummy temptations — but it’s also the perfect time to help children learn about balance and healthy choices!

Here are a few simple ways to keep healthy habits going strong at home:
✨ Offer fruits and veggies in fun shapes or colors.
🥛 Choose water or milk more often than sugary drinks.
🍽️ Talk about how foods help our bodies grow and give us energy to play.
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Model balance — enjoy treats, but also fill your plate with nutritious favorites!

Little steps today lead to big healthy habits for tomorrow.
