Professional Development Day
This afternoon, teachers from Madison Middle School, Madison High School, and Madison Early College High School came together to strengthen vertical alignment across grades and schools!
Our grades 6-12 ELA teachers explored the new ELA standards and heard Mrs. Braxton share instructional connections from her Go Global NC trip to Botswana and Zambia. The grades 6-12 math team focused on student engagement, using EVAAS and other data to identify areas of need, and strategies for supporting students in math.
Our grades 9-12 science teachers worked with Open Way Learning to review the new science standards and develop unit plans.
A special thank you to Mrs. Young, Mrs. Braxton, Mrs. Worley and Mrs. Frasure for helping facilitate these professional development sessions.
We appreciate our teachers' time and collaboration as they plan for students' success across every grade level!

Powerful Day of Professional Development!
This morning our K-5 teachers took part in differentiated professional development focused on the needs of their students. Sessions included UFLI Foundations, strengthening multisyllabic word skills, making the most of mCLASS Math, reading fluency and comprehension, Arts & Letters, and building a strong science foundation.
A special thank you to Mrs. Huntsinger, Director of Curriculum and Instruction, Mrs. Beth Sutherland, MCS Early Literacy Specialist, and Mrs. Coomer, Mrs. Rathbone, Mrs. Massey, Mrs. Mitchell, Mrs. Caldwell, Mrs. Collins, Mrs. Jenkins, Mrs. McGlothlin, Mrs. Harris, Ms. Horrell, Mrs. McKinney, Ms. Mayer, and Mrs. Ray for leading our K-5 sessions. We appreciate the time and expertise you shared with your colleagues!

At Monday night's meeting, the Board of Education proudly recognized Mrs. Caitlin Goforth for being named a finalist for the prestigious NCCAT 2027 Burroughs Wellcome Fund NC Career and Technical Education (CTE) Teacher of the Year! This is an incredible honor and a testament to her dedication to our students and community.
We would like to extend a special thank you to Deputy Executive Director Dr. Karen Sumner and Kim Sexton from the NC Department of Public Instruction (NC DPI) for attending the meeting, recognizing Mrs. Goforth's outstanding achievements, and presenting her with a plaque. Thank you, Mrs. Goforth, for your passion, hard work, and commitment to excellence in CTE education.
