Karson Schneider

The final introduction for our 26-27 cohort!

My name is Karson Schneider, and I am a Junior at Tracy area high school. I joined CEO to get a deeper understanding of how a business runs and what thoughts go through an entrepreneur's mind while making decisions. I am hoping through the help of CEO I am able to build business related connections and gain a better mentality of time related goals.

Other activities I am in are cross country, track and field, theater, and FCCLA. Outside of school I enjoy running and carpentry. I am excited to gain hands on business experience and learn about different business strategies.

Tyler Lumber Company is one of the oldest and largest lumber cooperatives, and we got the opportunity to hear from Lonnie Lambertus, General Manager.

Lonnie has been with Tyler Lumber Company since 1990, working through the ranks in various positions with the company. He's been able to see the company grow from just a lumber yard to a retail store, rental business, and also offer home and shed designing.

Lonnie attributes his longevity with the company to how much he loves his job, saying "If you love what you do, it never feels like going to work".

Thanks for showing us around and teaching us all about the lumber industry!

It was a BEAUTIFUL morning at ADM earlier in the week (peep that sunrise!)
CEO had the chance to learn about all that goes on at the corn processing plant in Marshall and all the different products produced: starch, ethanol, syrup, and sweeteners.
Between payroll, business partnerships, utilities, charitable giving, and purchasing the majority of corn within 60 miles of Marshall, ADM contributes over $500 million dollars annually to our local economies.

Thank you for the interesting tour and answering all our questions!

We are excited to introduce Kathryn to CEO!

"Hello, name is Kathryn Gordon. I am a senior at Marshall High School.

I applied for the CEO program to help me learn more about entrepreneurship, become more independent, and give me the resources I need to start and run a business. I hope that this class will help me grow connections with students who have the same goals while gaining confidence in communication and professionalism."

I enjoy playing soccer and golf. I am a member of Honors Society, Rotary, and a FCA leader. Outside of school I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, being at the lake, snowboarding and exploring new places.

I am excited to see where this class takes me and how I can use it in my future!

Introducing: Brayden!

My name is Brayden and I’m a Senior from MCC. I applied for CEO because I believe it is a great opportunity to learn more about the real world, become more independent, and build relationships with people in my community. I am an optimistic person who always tries to look at things in a positive way. My goal is to gain confidence, knowledge, and experience that will help me in the future, especially if I decide to build my own business.

I enjoy football, wrestling, track & field, and duck hunting. I also enjoy being outdoors and spending time with friends and family.

This being my senior year, I am excited to make my last high school memories while experiencing something new through the CEO program. I look forward to visiting different communities, learning from local businesses, meeting new people, and gaining experiences that will help prepare me for life after high school.

"A house costs HOW MUCH?! What do you mean there's no daycare? I didn't know that job was available here!"

These are just some of the questions that Lauren Deutz answered for students last week when she presented on the purpose and goals of the EDA of Marshall. The group got to play the Game of Life and look for employment, housing, and childcare in our region and help Lauren workshop ideas for how to keep people coming to Marshall to live, work, and play!
