Foster care was our Life Skills Class topic. As a school, we like to teach about empathy and understanding not just talk about it. So today, we took a deep look into the foster care system. Helping students understand that there are no "winners" when it comes to foster care because parents lose their children, children lose their siblings, families, and their innocents. Students learned about trauma, neglect and abuse, the cycle of foster care, the disease of drug addiction, and poverty. Nothing was sugar-coated -- I am so proud of the students; they were engaged, they asked profound questions. By looking at these kinds of challenging subjects, students become empowered, more aware, and empathetic of the world in which they live.

Do you have concerns about enrolling your 8th - 12th grader in school this year and not having the time or skills to homeschool? The Ferguson Learning Center may be the solution you need. Being parents and teachers ourselves we decided to open a teacher-led online school creating a fun environment for students to learn. Students may take a virtual field trip and meet students and teachers from India one week and learn how to make a pie from a local grandmother the next. Our goal is to make the learning experience fun and engaging, all at a very affordable price. Due to Covid, we extend enrollment to August 30th and drop the 50 dollars on your entrance fee.
