Last year’s MHU College Completion Scholarship winner, Richard Purser, had more than 25 years of experience as an automobile Master Technician. But when he encountered a roadblock to career advancement because he did not have a college degree, Richard decided it was time to return to school.
After earning his associate degree from South Piedmont Community College in 2024, graduating magna cm laude, Richard began searching for a bachelor’s program designed for working adults. The cost of continuing his education caused him to put those plans on hold. Then his son and daughter-in-law, both Mars Hill University graduates, nominated him for the MHU Adult and Graduate Studies College Completion Scholarship.
Today, Richard is continuing his educational journey at Mars Hill University.
