Mars Hill Anderson Rosenwald School

Celebrate Juneteenth at the school on Friday, June 19th!

❤️💚🖤 There are places that remember: old schoolhouses, wooden floors, doorways worn smooth by generations of feet.

For Mars Hill, the historic Anderson Rosenwald School is one of those places.

On Juneteenth, people will gather there again. They’ll bring casseroles and stories: Laughter. History. Questions. Friendship. And most importantly: community.

Freedom isn’t just something that happened. It’s something we remember, honor and keep working toward together.

Sometimes the most important conversations happen around folding tables with a potluck plate in your lap.

Hope to see some friends there.❤️🤍💙

The Mars Hill area experienced very little damage other than some trees blown down. Power was out for about 30 hours and residents have continued to have city water. The Rosenwald School is fine. Some trees fell around the building, but luckily they all fell away from the building. Many folks in Madison county are still without power. Marshall and Hot Springs are devastated. The Historic Depot in Marshall was totally washed away. We hope you and your families are safe.
