Metro Baltimore Seminary also holds the value of Grace-Based Leadership.
We seek to model leadership rooted in the gospel of God’s grace, and marked by service, humility and mutual submission.

A couple weeks ago, MBS President Dan Passerelli hosted a picnic at his house for students, faculty, donors, prayer team members, board members and so many others who are involved with and committed to the community life at MBS. It was an honor to pray together, fellowship and prepare for the new academic year ahead.

Another value that Metro Baltimore Seminary holds is that of The Local Church: We partner with local churches because the church is the community in which disciples are formed and serve. We believe leaders should receive training without uprooting their families from their church and community.

MBS Provost recently visited with and taught in-person classes to Tokyo Cohort students and the leadership team at Grace City Church Tokyo. Partnering with local churches to raise up disciple-making leaders in Japan as they work to bring the good news of the gospel to their local cities is a great privilege! A third value that we hold at Metro Baltimore Seminary is that of Cross-Cultural Engagement. This is a two-fold value that joins together the importance of classroom diversity AND preparation for cross-cultural ministry.

We believe that bringing together learners from different cultural and ecclesiastical backgrounds strengthens training for all and prepares students to minister effectively in the diverse contexts of Baltimore and beyond.

Last week, MBS Dean of Students Steve Dallwig led a team of teens and adults from Chapelgate Church to partner with Iglesia Presbiteriana Gracia Soberana in Honduras, where they spent a week building a new school that provides education as well as spiritual and medical care to the children and families of those who live and work on the city garbage dump. Pictured alongside Steve in the front row is 2nd year Bth student Cade Shields, who put into practice this value during his time abroad.

Another of MBS' stated values is that of Robust Theological Integration. We are rooted in the Reformed tradition and committed to academic rigor and charitable engagement with fellow laborers in Christ’s mission.

We are excited at the addition of three new members to our adjunct faculty who will each help to fortify that value as they take to the classroom for this upcoming academic year. Please be praying for them as they prepare their courses, and also for the students who will benefit from their partnership with us.

Welcome the team, Randy, Derek and Randall!

One of Metro Baltimore Seminary's values is that of Embodied Pedagogy. While recognizing the value of online connections to extend our reach and resources, we prioritize in-person learning because we believe formation in community equips leaders to embody Christ in their context.

2026 MDIV grad Krishna Kandel and newly matriculated Bth candidate Steve Maddox (pictured respectively beside MBS President Dan Passerelli) are both members and co-laborers at . We are grateful for this community connection and are looking forward to the ways God will use this relationship to further His Kingdom in the Baltimore area and beyond.
