The last week of summer. And it felt exactly like it should. 🌿

Quieter. Slower. Full of the kind of unhurried, child-led moments that remind us why we do this work in the first place.

This week across Peter Pan Learning Center, nobody was rushing. Kids led their own adventures, built their own worlds, and soaked up every last drop of summer together β€” and it was exactly right.

In one classroom, pinch pots took shape on Make-It Monday β€” little hands pressing clay into forms, making creative decisions, and producing something entirely their own. The same group later spread a picnic blanket outside and ate lunch in the sunshine, then talked honestly and excitedly about what the new school year is going to bring. A smaller class. A new chapter. Big things ahead. 🎨

In another room, imaginative play ruled the mornings. Peer-led adventures, developmental role-play, friendships deepening through made-up worlds β€” and a well-earned ice cream treat to punctuate the week. 🍦

Our youngest classroom explorers spent the week outside β€” fresh air, sunshine, and the freedom to move, discover, and simply be. Some weeks, that's the whole curriculum. And for babies, it's a perfect one. β˜€οΈ

Tactile Tuesday brought Play-Doh to one room β€” squishing, shaping, building hand strength, exploring texture with full sensory commitment. Followed by outdoor fun in the sun. Simple, intentional, developmental. 🌞

And in the Bumblebee room β€” the 4-year-old classroom that still has openings for the new school year β€” it was a week of connection. Friends playing, exploring, laughing, and settling into the rhythms that make a classroom feel like home. 🐝

If you have a 4-year-old who hasn't found their place yet β€” we have spots open in our Bumblebee classroom for 2026–2027. Every other classroom carries a waiting list, but this is your window. Our 4-year-old program builds the academic foundation, social confidence, and love of learning that carries children straight into Kindergarten and beyond.

Don't let September arrive without making the call.

Summer camp 2026 at Peter Pan Learning Center just had its final week β€” and it went out swinging. πŸŒΏβ˜€οΈ

Slime. Terrariums. Chocolate-covered fruit. Crickety Muffins. A moon landing video. A bubble party. Pizza. And somewhere in the middle of all of it β€” a group of kids who grew so much this summer that their teachers are still marveling at it.

Here's how the last week looked across our building πŸ‘‡

Space Week landed in one classroom with stories, new vocabulary, color-coded planet lessons, a historic moon landing video during circle time, a special arts-and-crafts session with Ms. Barb, and a Thursday pizza party to send the theme off in style. πŸš€

Our littlest ones wrapped up their last Water Day with splashing and sunshine, shared pizza lunches together, worked on fine motor sticker activities, colored, played outside, and soaked up every last drop of summer with the kind of joy only toddlers can manufacture. πŸ’›

Our infants had a bubble party. Tummy time. Playdough exploration. Swings pushed by toddler friends from down the hall. Independence practiced at mealtimes β€” spoons in hand, figuring it out. Imaginative play. Climbing. Tunnels. And more sweet social moments than we could capture in a week's worth of photos. πŸ’•

The Crickets launched the week with balloon toss and free drawing, baked Crickety Muffins AND brownies to celebrate a teacher's birthday πŸŽ‚, played in rainbow-colored outdoor water, and closed out Friday with magic sand, process art, and reading time. A near-perfect final week of camp.

The Bumblebees became nature explorers on Fun Friday β€” heading outside to collect dirt, leaves, rocks, shells, sticks, and grass before designing their very own terrariums. Every child chose their own materials and decided exactly how their miniature world would look. That's creativity, observation, and intentional thinking all wrapped up in a paper plate. 🌱

And the Fireflies? They went out like the scientists and creators they've been all summer long. Slime made from scratch β€” glue, baking soda, contact lens solution β€” with a real conversation about chemical reactions and how changing ingredients changes outcomes. Chocolate-covered fruit on skewers. Modeling clay creations. Handmade cards for a beloved teacher. An extra bonus Water Day. And finally β€” honest, heartfelt conversations about saying goodbye to summer and hello to a brand new school year.

This group has been something special from day one. πŸ’›βœ¨

To every family who spent their summer with us:

Thank you. For the early drop-offs and the late pickups. For trusting us with the most important people in your world. Summer 2026 gave us reptiles and magic shows, science experiments and fort nights, tie-dye reveals and rainy-day mummies β€” and we would do every single day of it again.

πŸ“Œ Parents β€” keep checking your email and BrightWheel!
End-of-summer updates, back-to-school information, and important dates are coming your way. Don't miss them.

🚨 One more thing before the new school year begins:

Most of our classrooms are full β€” but we have openings in our 4-year-old classroom for 2026–2027.

If your child is turning 4 and you've been looking for a learning community that knows exactly what this age needs β€” this is it. Our 4-year-old program builds the academic foundations, social confidence, and curiosity that carry children all the way into Kindergarten and beyond.

Spots are limited.

The week of summer looked a little something like this. πŸŒΏβ˜€οΈ

Forts built from blankets and shelves, piled full of stuffed animals, fidget toys, books, and fairy lights. Shaving cream scooped into sensory ice cream cones. Throwback tunes filling circle time β€” yes, Barney made another appearance and yes, we fully support it. Water Day splashing. Outdoor adventures. Post-nap smiles. Gross motor milestones celebrated like the big deals they are.

And on Friday afternoon, a group of kids declared themselves "Fairies for Life" β€” and honestly, we're not going to argue with that energy. πŸ§šβ€β™€οΈ

This week across every classroom at Peter Pan Learning Center, the through-line was simple: joy.

Babies hit milestones in the sunshine. Toddlers moved their bodies and made the most of every minute of free exploration. Our preschool and school-age kids danced to throwback favorites, created art, baked bread, dove hands-first into sensory play, built forts, and filled every corner of this building with the kind of unscripted, genuine connection that makes early childhood education what it is.

Summer 2026 at PPLC has been something special. Reptiles, magic shows, science experiments, Water Days, rainy-day mummies, toad discoveries, and more memories than we can count.

Thank you for sharing your children with us this summer. It is genuinely the honor of 45 years. πŸ’›

πŸ“Œ Parents β€” stay in the loop!

Make sure you're checking your email and BrightWheel regularly for updates, photos, and important information from our team. We send everything there first and don't want you to miss a thing.

🚨 Attention parents of rising 4-year-olds:

While most of our classrooms are full with a waiting list, we currently have openings in our 4-year-old classroom for the 2026–2027 school year.

This is a rare opportunity to secure a spot at one of Howard County's most trusted early childhood centers β€” a program that has been shaping young minds since 1979. Our 4-year-old program is designed to build the academic foundations, social skills, and confidence your child needs heading into Kindergarten.

Spots won't last. Don't wait.

He came. He performed. He absolutely delivered. πŸ₯’βœ¨

The Great Zucchini visited Peter Pan Learning Center this week β€” and every single classroom felt it. An award-winning, interactive magic show that had our kids laughing, gasping, participating, and completely captivated from start to finish. This is exactly the kind of memory that sticks with a child long after summer ends.

And somehow, the rest of the week kept up. Here's how every room rolled πŸ‘‡

πŸ‘Ά Infants
Water Day brought splashing, swinging, and pure summer joy. Our babies practiced large motor skills, explored the treasure box independently, visited the Toddler classroom for a change of scenery, and hit milestones that had their teachers cheering. First time at the big table for lunch. New skills tackled solo, no help needed. Nurturing play, book time, and sweet social moments filled the rest of the week. These little ones are moving fast. πŸ’›

🧸 Toddlers
The Great Zucchini magic show was a full experience β€” wonder, laughter, participation, and the kind of wide-eyed reactions only a room full of toddlers can deliver. Water Day followed with outdoor splashing and sunshine. Add in playground exploration, gross motor skill building, and everyday moments of friendship and independence β€” it was a week that covered all the bases. β˜€οΈ

🐞 Ladybugs
Sunshine, outdoor play, friendship, and the Great Zucchini magic show. Sometimes summer just needs to be summer β€” and the Ladybugs soaked up every second of it. Their curiosity and joy this week was something to see. 🐞

🐝 Bumblebees
Classroom exploration, creative play, social skill building, growing independence, and the Great Zucchini bringing the magic mid-week. The Bumblebees spent this week doing what they do best β€” learning through play, connecting with friends, and letting their personalities shine. 🐝

πŸ¦— Crickets
Bikes and sidewalk chalk outside in the sunshine. The big reveal of their tie-dye projects β€” the moment every tie-dye creation has been building toward. 🎨 Animal races that combined imagination and full-body movement in the best possible way. And of course, The Great Zucchini making the whole week feel like a celebration. The Crickets brought color to every single day this week.

✨ Fireflies
Leave it to the Fireflies to turn a rainy afternoon into one of the week's best moments. When outdoor plans got rained out, they stayed in and wrapped each other into mummies β€” full creative commitment, full cooperation, full laughter. The leftover materials? Already being saved for an upcoming science experiment. Because of course they are. πŸ”¬

That's on top of The Great Zucchini visit, which this group met with exactly the energy you'd expect β€” fully in it, fully loving every second.

This is what summer at PPLC looks like. Magic shows, Water Days, tie-dye reveals, rainy-day mummies, and 45 years of making Howard County childhoods worth remembering.

We are so grateful for every family who made this summer with us. πŸ’›

Water. Art. A disassembled camera. A toad. And a balloon garland. πŸŽˆπŸΈβ˜€οΈ

Just another week at Peter Pan Learning Center β€” where "ordinary Tuesday" doesn't exist.

πŸ‘Ά Infants β€” Jiggly green sensory play, Water Day splashing, peek-a-boo, and outdoor adventures. Growing every single day. πŸ’›

🧸 Toddlers β€” Play-Doh, rocks, pipe cleaners, dramatic play, matching puzzles, and a duck activity that got loved a little too hard. πŸ˜„

🐞 Ladybugs β€” Throwback Week brought Barney and Sesame Street back. Plus puffy paint, bread-making, and a handprint rainbow mural the whole class built together. 🌈

🐝 Bumblebees β€” Sensory play, art, outdoor fun, and the kind of friendships that only happen when kids spend a whole summer growing side by side.

πŸ¦— Crickets β€” Car wash sensory table, a dress-up Question of the Day, balloon garland, rainbow obstacle course, and one very unexpected toad. 🐸

✨ Fireflies β€” Took apart a real camera. Raced with tissues on their heads. Crossed a room using only chairs. This group never stops surprising us. πŸ”¬

πŸ₯’ August 5th is ONE WEEK AWAY.
The Great Zucchini is coming to PPLC β€” and we cannot wait.

Our Bumblebees room is buzzing β€” and almost full for fall! 🐝

For 45 years, families in Howard County have trusted Peter Pan Learning Center to be the place where their four-year-olds fall in love with learning. Right now, our Bumblebees classroom has just a few spots left for the fall β€” and once they're gone, they're gone until next year.

Four is a big year: bigger vocabularies, bigger imaginations, bigger friendships. Our Bumblebees teachers build each day around that β€” hands-on projects, outdoor exploration on our two-and-a-half acres, and the kind of small-group attention that lets every child be seen.

If you've been on the fence, now's the moment.

Spots are limited β€” reach out today to reserve your child's seat: peterpanlearningcenter.com or [email protected]

Bubbles, foam, and pure joy today at PPLC Summer Camp! β˜€οΈπŸ«§

Our Foam Party was everything you'd hope for β€” squealing laughter, foam up to their elbows (and everywhere else), and smiles that lasted long after the bubbles popped. Summer camp is all about these moments β€” the ones where kids get to just be kids, soaking up sunshine and making memories with their friends.

πŸ“± Parents, don't forget to check Brightwheel for today's photos and updates from your camper's day.

Here's to many more foam-filled adventures this summer! πŸ’›

One PPLC mom put it simply: it's a game-changer when daycare feels like your kid's home away from home. That's not an accident. Peter Pan Learning Center believes over half of a child's personality and learning ability forms before age six β€” so we don't treat this stage as a waiting room. We treat it as the most important room your child will ever be in.

Parents tell us their kids are known by name β€” not just by their teacher, but by every staff member in the building. They tell us about mailed holiday cards with their child's class photo. They tell us about a director who lives on-site, because this isn't a franchise, it's a family running a family business since 1979.

Here's the update: every classroom at PPLC is full for fall β€” except one. Our Bumblebee Room, for our four-year-olds, has just a handful of spots left. This room's curriculum draws on a Kindergarten program PPLC operated from 1989 to 2007 β€” sight words, early math, science, social studies β€” taught on two and a half acres with one of the largest playgrounds in Howard County.

If you've got a four-year-old and you've been on the fence, this is the room, and this is the moment. Families who find PPLC tend to stay for every one of their kids. Come see why.
