The Danger of Growing Lukewarm

Revelation 3:14-22 — Jesus addresses the Laodicean church, warning that spiritual self-satisfaction without genuine intimacy with him is a dangerous condition he will not overlook.

Devotional:
It is possible to attend every service, know every song, and speak fluently in the language of faith while remaining spiritually hollow. The Laodicean church believed it had everything it needed, yet Jesus described it as wretched, blind, and naked. The most dangerous spiritual condition is not outright rebellion — it is comfortable indifference that does not recognize itself as such. Ask God today to show you the honest state of your heart. Not the version you present to others, but the one he already sees. Repentance begins with honest examination.

Reflection Question:
Is there an area of your spiritual life where you have settled for familiarity rather than genuine intimacy with God?

Practical Application:
Set aside ten minutes today in a quiet place with no phone and no distractions. Ask God directly: “Am I as close to you as I think I am?” Write down whatever comes to mind.

He Is Coming Back

Reading:
Revelation 19:11-16 — John sees heaven opened and Christ returning on a white horse, clothed in majesty, with a name written that declares his authority as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Philippians 2:9-11 — God has exalted Jesus above every name, so that every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.

Devotional:
The Jesus who wore a crown of thorns is not finished. He is returning, and when he does, every power that ever mocked him, every force that ever opposed him, every voice that ever denied him will bow. This is not a threat. It is a promise. The same Savior who was beaten, crucified, and buried is the One riding back on a white horse with all authority. For the believer, this is not a moment of fear. It is the moment everything is finally set right. Live today with eternity in view. The temporary troubles of this life are not the final word. He is the final word, and he is coming.

Reflection Questions:
How does the certainty of Christ's return change the way you respond to injustice, suffering, or discouragement today?
Are you living in a way that reflects the reality that this world is not your permanent home?

Practical Application:
Write a short letter to yourself describing how you want to be living when Christ returns. Keep it somewhere visible this week as a daily reminder to live with eternal purpose and readiness.
