Happy Last Day of School! Serving as principal of Graveraet Elementary School has been the most rewarding work of my career in public education. Your children brought light and healing into my life at a time when I needed it the most, and I am forever grateful for my years at Graveraet. I will carry the memories and joy with me always. Today, my gift to the staff and students was a book (linked below) that I wrote, adapted from the text "That's Me Loving You" by Amy Krouse Rosenthal. During our last day of school assembly, I read the text with students, not knowing that their gift to me was a Little Blue Heart Library that will forever be in the front of the school! My heart is full. Thank you, GES!

Please remember to vote today!
TOMORROW is Voting Day! On May 5, 2026, MAPS will ask residents to consider a $59.995 million bond proposal designed to address critical facility, safety, and learning environment needs across all MAPS schools. This proposal reflects years of study, engagement, and planning, and would carry an estimated tax impact of 1.55 mills.

Congrats to Mrs. Andrea Johnston, Graveraet Title I Teacher, and MAPS K-5 Teacher of the Year! Her colleagues wrote, “Andrea is an outstanding educator for Marquette Area Public Schools because she not only excels in teaching in her own classroom, but has helped build an environment throughout the whole building for learning to grow and flourish. Andrea is committed to educational excellence, while keeping a positive attitude that positively impacts both her students and staff… Andrea is not just a teacher. She is a champion for teaching and learning. She is a mentor to colleagues who seek her wisdom and expertise. She is a collaborator who builds better systems and methods for students. She is an educator who works tirelessly to positively impact the lives of each and every student she knows. Most of all, she is a dedicated human being who comes to work every day, striving to make a difference in the lives of those around her.”
