Resident spotlight - Sydney Kuipers!

Sydney designed this amazing mural in our newly remodeled Lydia M. Olson Library. She was one of seven artists who submitted a mural design to the Library Mural Committee (LMC) back in February. The LMC opened a voting period for students, staff, and community members to vote for their favorite submission, and Sydney won!

Incoming Student Room Selection Day is here!

Please note that Northern Michigan University is continuing to experience campus phone service issues today. As a result, our office is currently receiving only a portion of incoming calls, and some calls may not connect to voicemail. A service ticket has been submitted with the national phone provider, and the issue is unfortunately outside of the university’s direct control at this time.

Housing and Residence Life Office Update:

Emails containing student room selection timeslots for tomorrow were sent earlier this evening. Due to the high volume of outgoing messages, there is currently a delay in delivery, and some students may not receive their email immediately.

We intentionally delayed sending the messages until later in the day in order to include students who completed their housing application today and ensure they were assigned a room selection timeslot.

Additionally, NMU’s Telecommunications Department has informed us that several offices across campus are currently experiencing phone system issues. While our office is receiving calls, some are unfortunately disconnecting unexpectedly. This appears to be part of a campus-wide issue.

If you are unable to reach our office by phone, please contact us at [email protected]. Our staff will remain available later this afternoon and throughout the evening to assist students, and I will personally be monitoring email communications to help address concerns as quickly as possible.

We're hiring a new Resident Director to join our team!

This is a 10-month position, with opportunities to extend employment into the summer. The starting salary range (for 10 months) is $37,156 and $44,766 (for 12 months). Additional benefits include a two-bedroom apartment, partial meal plan, full tuition coverage, and more. Master’s degree is not required.
