Our FINAL 2026 Quiz Bowl team graduate is the excellent Jeannine Doyle! Jeannine joined the team in 2022. She played in 17 tournaments ( #10 on the all-time list) and scored a whopping 2430 tossup points ( #15 on the all-time list)! She's an assertive buzzer, one of our team leaders in science, served multiple terms as an officer, and is a two-time winner of the prestigious Coach's Trophy. She also took the lead on compiling and submitting statistics at our tournaments. Whew! She's heading to Points East for grad school. Well done, Jeannine!

Our NEXT 2026 quiz bowl grade is future educator Cole Robinson! Cole joined the team in 2022 and played in 12 tournaments. He scored 1870 career tossup points, putting him #20 on the all-time list! He has impressive knowledge of history, politics, and (perhaps his favorite topic?) sports. He was an officer and a recipient of the Players' Choice Trophy. Thanks for your contributions to the team, Cole!

Our next 2026 Quiz Bowl grad is Amelia Bone! She graduated swiftly, in three short years, which is appropriate because she is a very fast runner. Boston Marathon-qualifying fast! In addition to running thousands of miles, she played in ten (10) quiz bowl tournaments with us, served as an officer, and received the coveted Players' Choice Trophy. She's a Renaissance person, with a scientific bent (ask her about viruses!) but also a great knowledge base about art and lots of other things

Your friendly NMU QB Facebook manager (whose name rhymes with Profe Joy) has been negligent in updating the page this academic year. So sorry! But it's been a GREAT academic year--we played in three tournaments, and hosted several well-attended on-campus trivia events as well.
AND it's somehow graduation week, when we recognize seniors, so here's the first: Ralph Jordan! Ralph joined us in the fall of 2024 and he's already graduating!?! That's a team record for time-to-graduate. He's the recipient of several team trophies (I can't say more; he's receiving them tonight). He's an expert on music, literature, and lots of other things, and his love of quiz bowl is infectious. Thanks, and congrats, Ralph!!!

NMU QB's final fall 2025 graduate is the excellent Libby Myren! Libby played in an amazing 15 tournaments, in just 3.5 years! She's also been an officer (including president) and is ranked 16th all-time with 2150 points scored. She also broke the record for career improvement on the famous (infamous?) "quiz bowl diagnostic test," improving her score by more than 200% over the course of her time at NMU. She's off to do great things in the field of law. Congrats and thank you, Libby!

It's commencement week at NMU, and we have two NMU Quiz Bowl grads to celebrate. First is Eli Croschere! He has been with the team for the past three years, and is currently the team historian. This is appropriate, because he is a history major! Eli's played in six tournaments, specializing in history (naturally), as well as theater and literature. His good sense of humor and gung ho spirit have served our team well. Good luck, Eli!!!

First tournament of the year! We traveled into the woods (literally), meeting Michigan Tech halfway between Houghton and Marquette, to play a friendly tournament. Sadly, our friends from Tech took the Superior Cup--their A team finished with a 7-0 record, while our Quiz Cats A team finished at 5-2. Don't worry--we're just loaning it to them! A good time was had by our 13 players in the rustic, snowy setting. Next tournament? SECTIONALS in the big city (Minneapolis) on February 7th!

Our A team held on to the Superior Cup today, winning a friendly tournament between our team and our friendly rivals from Michigan Tech! Two squads from each team played; NMU A won the tournament with an 8-1 record, defeating MTU A which finished 7-2. Very close and nerve-racking! Great work from all the Quiz Cats!
