At Marquette-Alger Technical Middle College, the learning doesn't stop when the traditional school year ends. Throughout the summer, we sit down one-on-one with each of our Grade 12 and Grade 13 Jobs for Michigan's Graduates students to set them up for a successful fall semester!

During these personalized check-ins, we cover a lot of ground to make sure everyone feels confident and ready to roll:
📍 Campus Walkthroughs: Finding classrooms together so there is LESS first-day stress.
📅 Weekly Scheduling: Mapping out classes, study blocks, and life balances.
💼 Summer Employment: Discussing current jobs, career goals, and building those essential workplace skills.

📸 Pictured here: One of our hardworking students, Landen, mapping out his weekly schedule right inside the NMU Jacobetti Complex where he'll be gaining hands-on, real-world skills this fall!

We are so proud of our students' dedication to building their futures. Keep up the amazing work! 🛠️✨

April marks National Welding Month, dedicated to honoring the skilled hands that build our infrastructure. As we recognize the importance of this trade, we are also reflecting on the life of a Middle College graduate, Brayden Burnett.

While enrolled with the Middle College, Brayden earned 13 welding certifications and was recognized with the Cody Revord Exceptional Student Award. After graduation, Brayden moved to the Green Bay area and worked for Dürr and began an apprenticeship with the UA Local 400 Plumbers and Steamfitters at Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding.

We truly enjoyed working with Brayden while he was enrolled with the Middle College and loved cheering him on when we caught up with him after graduation.

To support the next generation of welders in his honor, Brayden’s family has established a memorial scholarship. You can learn more here: https://mapseducationfoundation.org/scholarships/brayden-burnett-memorial-welding-scholarship-fund/
