We want to give a shoutout to everyone who helped to make NU386: Interdisciplinary Study in Global Health: Belize possible. We couldn't have done so much for those at the schools or clinics in Belize without all the help! We also wanted to share a nice note we received after the trip. Whose ready to see some pictures from Belize?!?! Each May, students in NU386: Interdisciplinary Study in Global Health: Belize travel to Belize have the unique opportunity to travel to Belize to gain valuable experience with a focus on healthcare and community collaboration. The School of Nursing is looking for someone to teach NU322: Nursing Care of Women and Families for the winter 2027 semester.

This would involve teaching on NMU's campus in the simulation lab and also leading students in caring for patients in the hospital setting at UPHS-MQT on Tuesdays and/or Thursdays from 7am-3pm.

Dr. Kristen Smith worked at Bay Cliff Health Camp during the summer and is pictured here with the other camp nurses (all in red t-shirts) and students. Bay Cliff's Mission is "To change the lives of people with disabilities in a therapeutic camp setting."
If you are interested in working with kids, please go to https://baycliff.org/ or stop by and talk with Kristen in Weston 2405. You don't need to be in nursing to be able to help the kids at Bay Cliff but it is a great opportunity for nursing students to get real hands-on pediatric care in the U.P.

Starting today applications for the Winter 2027 semester Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program will be accepted until October 1, 2026 at nmu.edu/nursing/application

If you have a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher and have completed (with a C- or higher) or, if not completed, are currently enrolled in the fall 2026 semester for all BSN prerequisite courses, now is your opportunity to apply!

See the BSN Information Packet or contact your adviser for the appropriate semester for you to apply.
