Thunderstorms can move in quickly, especially during summer activities.

If you hear thunder, lightning is close enough to be dangerous. Head indoors or get into a hard-topped vehicle and wait at least 30 minutes after the last thunder before returning outside.

Avoid open areas, beaches, water, tall trees, metal fences, and sports fields during a storm.

A good rule to remember: When thunder roars, go indoors.

Stay aware of the forecast, have a plan, and don’t wait until lightning is overhead to take action.

The Power to Save a Life is in Your Hands.

As CPR & AED Awareness Week comes to a close, the message is simple:

Learn CPR. Know where the AED is. Be ready to act.

Emergencies do not wait for perfect timing, and EMS success often begins with a bystander who notices, calls, and starts care.

You can be that person.

CPR training helps replace hesitation with action.

In an emergency, seconds matter. Practicing the steps ahead of time can make it easier to respond when someone needs help.

Whether you are a parent, coworker, coach, caregiver, teacher, or neighbor, CPR is a skill worth having.

Be ready for the people around you.

The Power to Save a Life is in Your Hands.

You do not need scrubs, a badge, or a medical title to help save a life.

You just need to recognize that something is wrong and be willing to act.

Call 911. Start CPR. Use an AED if available.

This CPR & AED Awareness Week, let’s build a community of everyday lifesavers.

AEDs are designed to be used by everyday people.

They give clear voice prompts, guide the rescuer step by step, and will only deliver a shock if one is needed.

Knowing where AEDs are located in your workplace, school, church, gym, or community space can save valuable time during an emergency.

Find it before you need it.

The Power to Save a Life is in Your Hands.

Bystanders are often the first link in the chain of survival.

Before EMS arrives, someone has to recognize the emergency, call 911, begin CPR, and find an AED if one is available.

That “someone” could be you.

CPR & AED Awareness Week is the perfect time to learn, refresh, or encourage your workplace, family, or organization to be better prepared.

The Power to Save a Life is in Your Hands.

Many cardiac emergencies happen at home, which means the person who needs CPR could be someone you know and love.

CPR is not just a workplace skill or a medical skill. It is a life skill.

Learning what to do can help you feel more prepared if the unthinkable happens.

A simple skill can make a big difference.

The Power to Save a Life is in Your Hands.

CPR & AED Awareness Week is a great reminder that you do not need to be a healthcare provider to make a difference.

When someone suddenly collapses, quick recognition, calling 911, starting CPR, and using an AED can help give that person the best chance while EMS is on the way.

This week, take a few minutes to think about being ready.

Learn CPR. Know where the AED is. Be willing to act.

There’s encouraging news in CPR and AED awareness.

New CARES registry data shared by the American Heart Association shows more people are stepping in to help before EMS arrives.

Bystander CPR has increased from 40.2% in 2020 to 42.5% today, and AED use before EMS arrival in public settings has increased from 9% to 13.9%.

That progress matters.

Every CPR class, every AED placement, and every person willing to act helps build a stronger community of lifesavers.

We still have work to do, but more lives are being given a chance because bystanders are taking action.
