One sentence from this review says it all:

“They told me they had thrown the book at me.”

After a severe L5-S1 disc herniation, this client spent four months in traditional physical therapy. While the pain improved, his left calf still had almost no strength.

When he asked what came next, the answer was…

Nothing.

He was told they had exhausted their options.

That’s when he found The Wellness Arena.

His goal was simple: get his strength back so he could play sports again, keep up with his children, and stop worrying about his back every time he moved.

Five months later…

✅ His calf strength returned.
✅ His body was moving better than it had in years.
✅ He was virtually pain-free.
✅ He was feeling strong again in his workouts.
✅ And most importantly, he got back to the life he thought he might have lost.

Too often, people mistake a plateau for the end of the road 🛣️

Sometimes it just means you haven’t been given the right roadmap yet 🗺️

That’s exactly why we do what we do.

Thank you for trusting Dr. Leo with your recovery. Seeing you go from feeling hopeless to getting back to the activities you love is what it’s all about 👊💪

🔥 The 3 Warm-Ups I NEVER Skip Before Burn Boot Camp 🔥

As a performance physical therapist, I don’t warm up to break a sweat…

I warm up to prepare my body to move better.

A good warm-up isn’t about doing random stretches. It’s about improving mobility where you’re stiff, creating stability where you need control, and preparing your body to handle the demands of the workout ahead 💪

These 3 exercises are my go-to before every camp:

✅ Down Dog Pedals – 20 reps
🔹 Opens up the calves and hamstrings (your posterior chain)
🔹 Gets the shoulders ready to support load
🔹 Encourages thoracic spine extension so you can move overhead more efficiently

✅ Bear Plank – 3 x 30-second holds
🔹 Fires up your deep core
🔹 Activates your shoulder stabilizers
🔹 Expands your posterior ribcage so you can breathe better under load
🔹 Creates a stable foundation before you start moving fast

PS: A strong core isn’t just about 6-pack abs… it’s about giving your arms and legs something solid to work from 🐻

✅ 90/90 + Reach – 3 x 5 breaths
🔹 Helps stack the pelvis and ribcage in a neutral and stable position
🔹 Activates the hamstrings to stabilize the pelvis
🔹 Improves breathing mechanics before training

Sometimes the best warm-up isn’t another stretch… it’s getting your body into a better position so everything else works more efficiently 🔥

My goal isn’t to feel exhausted before camp…

My goal is to walk into ACon, strength days, or MetCon feeling like my body is ready to perform. And to make sure I recover well after 🙌

Remember: The quality of your workout (and your ability to recover) starts with the quality of your warm-up.

Give these a go before your next camp and let us know how it goes! 💪

Putting the ‘woo’ in woo-woo 🥳

One of the hardest things about being active is when pain starts taking away the things you love.

That was Eileen’s reality.

A herniated disc left her with constant neck and upper back pain. Overhead lifting became painful, workouts weren’t the same, and even playing field hockey started to feel out of reach.

She didn’t want to stop being active.

She just wanted a body that could keep up again.

When Eileen started working with Dr. Carly, we focused on more than just getting her pain to calm down. We built a plan that addressed the root cause, restored her confidence, and progressively got her back to doing the things that matter most to her.

Along the way, treatments like dry needling helped reduce her pain, but they were only one piece of the puzzle. The real goal was always bigger than pain relief.

It was getting her life back.

Today, Eileen is back in the gym.

She’s lifting overhead without pain.

She’s back on the field playing field hockey.

And she’s absolutely crushing it.

That’s what success looks like to us.

Not just feeling better for an hour after treatment—but building a body that’s capable of doing the things you love without fear.

Eileen, we’re so proud of everything you’ve accomplished. Watching you return to the gym and the field with confidence has been an incredible journey, and we’re grateful you trusted Dr. Carly and our team to help get you there 💪

‼️ Spoiler alert ‼️

You probably can’t pass this test! 🤷🏻‍♂️

Most people think back pain starts in their back… but 9 times out of 10, that’s not the case.

The back pain is just the victim of something somewhere else isn’t moving well. In this case, it might be your ankles! 🦶

Try this test…

If you can’t get your knee to the wall without your heel lifting, you likely have limited ankle dorsiflexion.

Why does this matter? 🤔

When your ankles don’t bend enough, your body has to find that motion somewhere else 🕵🏻‍♂️

So when you squat, you might:
❌ Fall back because you can’t shift your knees forward
❌ Turn your feet our excessively to compensate
❌ Round your lower back (butt wink) to get deeper into the squat

Every one of those compensations increases stress on tissues (like your back) that were never meant to do the ankle’s job.

The result?

👎 Low back pain
👎 Hip discomfort
👎 Knee pain
👎 Poor squat mechanics
👎 Decreased performance in the gym

The answer isn’t to stop squatting.

It’s to figure out why your squat looks the way it does.

At The Wellness Arena, we don’t just tell you to “keep your chest up” or “sit back more.” We identify the mobility restrictions causing your compensations, then address the root cause so your body can move the way it was designed to.

Your back may not be the problem...
It may just be paying the price for stiff ankles ☹️

When in doubt, rotator cuff it out 💪

There are certain clients whose stories stay with you.

This is one of them.

When Erick first came to The Wellness Arena, he had already been through what felt like every possible stop along the healthcare journey.

Primary care.
Podiatrist.
Physical therapy.
Chiropractor.
MRI.

Every appointment led to another dead end.

Meanwhile, some mornings his pain was so bad he couldn’t even walk.

By the time he found us, he wasn’t just frustrated— he was starting to lose hope.

What we love most about Erick’s story is that Dr. Leo never made his foot the focus.

We made HIM the focus.

Dr. Leo looked at how Erick’s entire body moved, uncovered the root cause of why the pain kept coming back, and built a plan around getting him back to the life he wanted— not just getting him through another appointment.

Today?

His foot pain is gone.

He’s back in the gym.

He’s lifting heavy again.

He’s training without thinking twice about whether he’s going to have pain.

But the part of his story that sticks with us the most happened outside the clinic.

During his recovery, Erick’s dad became very sick. Overnight, he found himself lifting, transferring, and caring for him almost every day. Instead of worrying that his body would break down, he had the confidence, strength, and movement strategies to show up for his family when they needed him most.

To us, that’s what great physical therapy should do.

It shouldn’t just get you out of pain.

It should give you a body you can trust again.

A body that lets you chase your goals in the gym.

A body that’s there for the people you love.

Erick, watching you go from barely being able to walk to training pain-free again has been incredible. Thank you for trusting Dr. Leo and our team to be part of your comeback. These are the stories that remind us why we do what we do every single day 💙

Most physical therapists treat runners. Dr. Bridget is a runner 🏃🏻‍♀️

And that difference matters.

When you’re training for your next PR, building mileage, or preparing for race day, you need more than someone who can tell you to “take a few weeks off.”

You need someone who understands the physical and mental demands of training because she’s lived them herself 🙌

As a Doctor of Physical Therapy, Board-Certified Sports Clinical Specialist, triathlete, marathon runner, Half Ironman finisher, former Division I athlete, and Running Performance Specialist, Dr. Bridget helps runners and active adults do more than recover from injury 🏅

She helps them build stronger, more resilient bodies that can handle the demands of training— so they can run farther, lift heavier, compete harder, and stay in the sport they love 💪

At The Wellness Arena, every exercise has a purpose. Every treatment has a plan. And every athlete gets one-on-one care designed around their goals— not a generic protocol.

Our biggest promotion ever has been incredible. We originally opened 10 evaluation spots… they filled almost immediately.

Because of the overwhelming response, we’ve decided to open 2 additional spots before the promotion officially ends.

If you’ve been thinking about working with Dr. Bridget, this is your last chance to lock in:
✨ $69 Initial Evaluation (normally $299)
✨ 30% OFF all treatment packages

When these final 2 spots are gone, the promotion ends.

📲 DM “BRIDGET” or call/text us today (856-745-4177) to claim one of the last remaining spots 🏅

Training for a fall 5K, 8K, 10K, Half Marathon, or Marathon? 🏃This could save your season 🙌

One of the biggest mistakes runners make isn’t running…

It’s progressing their mileage too quickly.

Research consistently shows that increasing your weekly mileage by more than 10% significantly increases your risk of overuse injuries.

That’s why many well-designed training plans follow the 10% Rule— gradually building mileage so your muscles, tendons, bones, and joints have time to adapt to the demands of running 💪

When that progression happens too fast, your body starts sending warning signs:

❌ Shin splints
❌ IT band pain
❌ Runner’s knee
❌ Hip pain
❌ Achilles pain
❌ Even low back pain
❌ Your whole body could just hurt

Running injuries aren’t just “bad luck.”

And the problem isn’t always your running form.

More often, it’s that your body isn’t resilient enough to handle the workload you’re asking it to do.

That’s where Dr. Bridget comes in 🙌

As our Running Performance Specialist, Board-Certified Sports Clinical Specialist, marathon runner, Half Ironman finisher, and former D1 athlete, she helps runners build stronger, more resilient bodies so they can train with confidence, stay healthy, and perform at their best.

At The Wellness Arena, we don’t just treat pain— we uncover the true root cause through a comprehensive 2-hour, one-on-one evaluation, then create a personalized game plan to keep you running for the long haul.

Our goal isn’t to tell you to stop running.

It’s to identify the true reason your body is breaking down, build your resilience, and keep you doing what you love for the long run 🏃

Our biggest sale ever ends Monday (7/20):

✨ Initial Evaluation: $69 (normally $299)
✨ 30% OFF all treatment packages

If you’ve been thinking about working with Dr. Bridget, don’t wait until pain forces you to stop training, get on her schedule ASAP!

⚠️ Only 3 spots remain, and once they’re filled, the offer is over.

📲 DM “BRIDGET” or give us a call to reserve your spot before Monday. Your future self—and your running goals—will thank you 🏃💪

10 years.

Think about that for a second 😓

That’s how long Jon lived with chronic low back pain.

Ten years of trying treatment after treatment.
Ten years of adapting life around the pain.
Ten years of wondering if this was just something he was going to have to live with.

By the time Jon walked into The Wellness Arena, he had already tried nearly everything short of surgery.

Here’s what we wish more people knew:

When you’ve been in pain for years, you don’t just lose strength or mobility.

You lose trust in your body.

You start avoiding movements.
You brace for pain before it even happens.
You stop believing things can actually get better.

Our job isn’t to throw more exercises at you.

Our job is to understand why your body has stayed stuck for so long.

That’s exactly what Dr. Leo did.

He looked beyond the painful area.

Dr. Leo helped Jon understand what was happening in his body and nervous system, addressed the root cause, and built a plan that finally started creating lasting change.

Today, Jon’s making progress he hadn’t experienced in over a decade. Progress he thought was never possible.

Not because we found a magic technique.

Because he finally had a plan that actually addressed the root cause.

One sentence from this review perfectly captures what we strive to create:

“I feel supported and safe every time I come in.”

To us, that’s everything.

Because when people feel safe, understood, and empowered, that’s when real healing begins.

Thank you for trusting us after ten years of searching. We never take that responsibility lightly 🙏
