🤨 Thursdays Are For Thinkers!

🔹 6 Poles - There are so many lines you can train with a triangle. This is just one pattern showing a few options of many available.

👉 If you are short on time, low on poles then this little 6 pole set up is for you.

🔹 Green line for accuracy, balance, strength. When you ride through the point of a triangle, keep the horses line of travel directly over the point. If they step left or right of the point you are losing them through their shoulders. Count how many trot steps your horse does in the triangle and experiment with a bigger trot stride and a smaller trot stride. The two poles on the bottom are at a trot distance. Know your own horses distances... If you're new to my page, go to my Youtube channel for a tutorial on understanding distances or go to my website, sign up to my Newsletter from the pop-up and get a free PDF for standard distances to save.

🔹 Light blue line and single pole on the right, is a canter bounce line. Excellent line for training rhythm and better quality of canter. Looks easy - it is not. Especially on a green horse or a horse that falls out or in while cantering.

🔹 Pink circle can be walk or collected trot. The aim here is for the horse to place one foot in the corner of the triangle. Requires the rider to have excellent connection and control of the exact line of travel the horse follows, while maintaining quality of pace.

🤨 How does using a little exercise like this help in your every day schooling?
👉 Holds the rider accountable for basic aids, use of eyes, maintaining control of the horses shoulders.
👉 Highlights the gaps in training, where the horse is weak or stiff and where there is a lack of understanding between the riders aids to the horses response.

✅ If you want a wad of my pole patterns to keep in your phone and pick out at your whim - check comments for the link to my 50 pole PDF.
