IU 29 coordinates services for Schuylkill County schools. The Schuylkill Intermediate Unit 29 operates the Schuylkill Technology Center, the STC Airport Campus, the Lifelong Learning Center, and the Maple Avenue Campus. Offering an array of educational

services including special education, vocational education, early childhood education, after-school programs, curriculum services, professional development, technology services, postsecondary programs and adult basic education, IU 29 is Schuylkill County's hub for education coordination and support.

🎓 Bachelor’s Degree & PA Instructional I Certification in Special Education PK–12
📚 Knowledge of special education practices and experience supporting students with disabilities

Key Responsibilities:
✅ Develop and implement individualized instruction based on students’ IEPs and needs
✅ Provide differentiated instruction in academic, functional, behavioral, social-emotional, and vocational skills
✅ Monitor student progress, collect and interpret data, and adjust instruction accordingly
✅ Collaborate with families, educators, support staff, agencies, and other members of the IEP team
✅ Create a positive, supportive learning environment that promotes student growth and independence

🩺 Position: Health Room Assistant
⏰ Part-Time: Up to 30 hours per week
💰 Salary: $25–$35 per hour

Qualifications Include:
✅ Graduate of an approved School of Nursing
✅ Current Pennsylvania RN or LPN license
✅ Current CPR certification
✅ Prior healthcare experience or training
✅ Interest in working with children and adolescents
✅ Strong communication, organizational, and computer skills
✅ Ability to remain calm and respond effectively during emergencies

Key Responsibilities:
• Provide appropriate care for student and staff illnesses or injuries
• Administer medications and maintain accurate health records
• Assist with health screenings and communicable disease procedures
• Communicate with parents, healthcare providers, and the Certified School Nurse as needed

The School Police Officer will assist school administrators with maintaining a safe and secure learning environment, enforcing applicable laws and school policies, responding to emergencies, conducting building security assessments, and protecting individuals and property on IU29 premises.

Qualified applicants must possess the certifications, clearances, and training required to serve as a legally qualified School Police Officer in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Required training includes applicable Municipal Police Officers’ Education and Training Commission requirements and completion of an approved School Resource Officer course.

Join Star Community Health on August 6 from 12:00–3:00 PM for a free Back-to-School Bash featuring school supplies while supplies last, vision and hearing checks, dental screenings, sports physicals, vaccinations, and community resources.

Ashley Hess, Assistant Director of Special Education, will be there representing Early Intervention – Schuylkill Intermediate Unit 29. Stop by to learn more about Early Intervention services and available community resources.

📍 The event will be held outside in the parking lot of the Star Community Health office, located at 34 S. Railroad Street, Tamaqua. Although the flyer references Tamaqua Area School District students, the event is open to anyone.

Vaccination information: Students who need vaccinations must bring a copy of their vaccination record or already be a patient at the Star Community Health office in order to receive vaccinations that day.

We hope to see you there as families prepare for a healthy and successful school year!
