Babies typically drop down to three naps a day around five months. As they get closer to seven months that third nap of the day can become a real struggle, but it’s important not to drop down to two naps too early as that could cause overtiredness at bedtime and frequent night wakings.
The third nap is:
🤪 Typically the hardest nap of the day, usually happening around 4:30 PM.
⏱ Meant to just be a 30 to 45 minute catnap with 2.5-3 hours of sleep prior to it.
😳 Sensitive to the prior wake window, shooting for 2.25-2.5 hours of awake time before the 3rd nap.
🙄 A real pain in the butt to be honest. Don’t stress about having this nap be independent. Totally OK if it needs to be in a rocking chair, baby carrier, car, etc.

🌟TOP 5 BABY SLEEP MYTHS🌟
Okay, so I have to be honest… There is some merit to these statements, but remember every single baby is different. Here’s what I mean…
1️⃣ Contact naps are super helpful (and needed) in the newborn period, when you need to ensure baby gets some sleep and when baby is sick.
🔥HOWEVER, we need to make sure that baby can sleep in their own space as well.
2️⃣ Babies will have a BETTER CHANCE of falling BACK to sleep in between sleep cycles if they are able to fall asleep independently at the start on the nap/night.
🔥HOWEVER, that’s not always the case. I nursed my third baby to sleep before every nap and night and it never impacted him being able to stay asleep.
3️⃣ We want babies to sleep as long as possible and learn how to lengthen their naps.
🔥HOWEVER, too much nap sleep can eat into night sleep and too much night sleep can affect naps.
4️⃣ Babies may have a harder time sleeping through the night if you are right next to them.
🔥HOWEVER, it is DEFINITELY possible with consistency, a plan and a few rearrangements.
5️⃣ A later bedtime can mean a later wakeup time.
🔥HOWEVER, it depends on when the last nap of the day ended and how restorative those naps were.

When your baby first comes home from the hospital it seems like they are constantly sleeping and eating. After a few weeks, your baby will become a little more alert and have some more awake time. However, it’s important they’re not getting too much awake time which can be very overstimulating. My TOP THREE TIPS for newborn naps are:
1. Make sure they’re getting a nap after 45-60 minutes of awake time
2. Make sure they’re getting 4-6 naps/day totaling 4-6 hours
3. Practice independent sleep by using the crib in the morning and don’t be afraid to nap on the go or contact nap later in the day

🍂It’s that time of year again! 3 ways to prepare for the “Fall Back” time change....
While everyone else deems this the “good” time change, the Fall time change is the absolute worst for parents because your babies will be waking up one hour EARLIER on November 3rd. 😴
You have three options to manage this time change:
🍂If you have a 𝗦𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗦𝗹𝗲𝗲𝗽𝗲𝗿, start pushing bedtime, mealtimes and naps later by 15 minutes every other day starting Oct. 30
🍂If you have a fairly 𝗘𝗮𝘀𝘆 𝗦𝗹𝗲𝗲𝗽𝗲𝗿, push bedtime, mealtimes and naps later by 30 minutes every other day starting tonight, Oct. 29
🍂Finally, you could 𝗗𝗼 𝗡𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 ahead of time and adjust the schedule after the time change. By the end of the week, everyone should be back on track.
🌟COMMENT “INFOGRAPHIC” if you’d like a downloadable version of the schedule to save to your phone for easy reference.

Trying to decide whether to put your baby's crib in your room or in the nursery?
Both options have benefits. Comment below with your preference and let’s discuss!👇
🔹 This Crib in Nursery 🚼
Placing the crib in the nursery encourages independent sleep habits, provides a quieter environment for both baby and parents, and helps establish the nursery as the designated sleep space.
🔹 That: Crib in Parent’s Bedroom 🛏️
Keeping the crib in the parent’s bedroom makes nighttime feedings and comforting easier, allows for closer monitoring of the baby during the night, and can help with bonding and reduce nighttime anxiety.
Every family is different, and what works best for one might not be ideal for another. The key is to choose the option that feels right for you and your baby.
