MARKSVILLE HIGH AG WELDING — WEEK 4!

Our welding students are KILLING IT!

They’ve been putting in the work, building their skills, and gaining confidence with every bead!

Today, we want to give a BIG SHOUTOUT to Aymirah for her awesome performance on her vertical beads! 👏🔥

Her hard work, focus, and determination are definitely paying off! Keep up the great work, Aymirah! We can’t wait to see how far you go!

September is Su***de Prevention Awareness Month, a time to remind our students, families, and community that mental health matters, conversations matter, and help is available.

Parents and caregivers play an important role in recognizing changes in behavior, starting conversations, listening without judgment, and connecting young people with support when they need it. This month’s Parent Guidance newsletter provides information about warning signs, ways to talk with children and teens, and resources for families.

THE FIRST WEEKS SET THE TONE!

At Avoyelles Parish Schools, we operate on a four-day school week, which makes every instructional day especially important.

Chronic absenteeism means missing 10% or more of the school days a student is enrolled, whether those absences are excused or unexcused.

That means we don't want families waiting until absences begin adding up to think about attendance. Building strong habits during the first few weeks of school can help set students up for success throughout the year.

🏠 Establish consistent morning and bedtime routines.

📅 Schedule appointments outside of instructional days when possible.

📞 If something is making it difficult for your child to attend regularly, reach out to your school early. We want to help.

🎒 And remind students that being at school isn't just about academics. It's about relationships, routines, opportunities and being part of their school community.

Are you interested in a career in education? Avoyelles Parish Schools invites students to join the Educators Rising Club and get a firsthand look at what it means to make a difference through education!

Members will have opportunities to:
🍎 Explore careers in education
⭐ Build leadership skills
✏️ Participate in fun, hands-on activities
👀 Observe classrooms in action
🏆 Attend conferences and competitions

Club meetings will be held monthly during the school day at an elementary school within the district.
