In preparation for the Military Ball, the Cadets have been learning about Social Etiquette. They have learned about social introductions in a formal setting, personal introductions, the receiving line and how to shake hands, manners and courtesies, proper use of napkins, a formal dining setting and proper use of silverware. They will put all of this to good use this weekend.

Good Afternoon Parents and Guardians,

On Saturday, 28 Feb 26, Marion High School AFJROTC will celebrate with our annual Military Ball that will be held in the cafeteria starting at 5:30pm. We are reaching out to see who is interested in helping as Chaperones and Food Preparation and Servers. The event is catered this year, but we need help with plating up the food etc.

We need four individuals to assist with plating the food, two to help with getting food to and from the kitchen and two for additional chaperones. If this is something that you are interested in, please message me directly and indicate what area you want to help in.

Thank You.

Today was a great day, Cadets participated in Wreaths Across America at the Mound City National Cemetery. Two Cadets were asked to represent the US Navy and Space Force and placed the ceremonial wreaths at the beginning of the program. Cadet’s enjoyed themselves and what a great opportunity to serve our community. One Cadet accompanied by her mother was able to place a wreath on the grave of her grandfather.

Good Morning Parents, Guardians and Friends of AFJROTC,

The Cadets have been invited to participate in Wreaths Across America again this year at the Mound City National Cemetery. This event will take place on Saturday, December 13 at 11am. Everyone is welcome to participate, however, only Cadets and Chaperones are allowed on the bus. Cadets can drive down themselves if they want to, but the issue is other Cadets riding with them without parent/guardian approval. I am encouraging Cadets to talk with you and getting approval before jumping in the car with anyone else.

Please encourage your Cadet to sign up if they haven’t already. The expected high for this event is cold. Please encourage your Cadet to layer up and dress appropriately for the weather to include hats and gloves.

0915 - Meet in Classroom
0930 - Depart MHS
1030ish - Arrive at Cemetery
1100 - Program Start
1pm(ish) - Return to Marion High School - Will have Cadets call/text you when we depart

Cadets were presented with a last minute, volunteer opportunity to help put together 60 Thanksgiving Boxes for families in our local area. The Visionaries for this event are Matt Warner, Brittani Warner, Zach Palmer and Darcy Palmer. They reached out to local, roofing companies with their vision and acquired the needed resources to make this a great holiday for the recipients.

Cadets witnessed what can be accomplished by Teamwork and Communication. In my A Team, Hannibal voice “I love it when a plan comes together”. Cadets, if you do not get the inference, please ask your parent/guardian.

What a way to start the morning, Cadets were asked to present the colors at the annual, Weathering The Storm Conference. They did an outstanding job and were coined by the Director of the event who was previously an Air Force Junior ROTC Cadet in high school hailing from Del Rio, Texas.
